I don't think Scoot has shown enough where Dallas should have to take on P Will.

i'd just leave out the other teams. don't really see anything wrong with PJ+something of slight value for Scoot+Sharpe
investigate Adam Silver

Re: Dallas - Portland - Chicago - Milwaukee
Looks very good for PORT to pick a veteran lane. It's a decent gable for the Bulls to take Sharpe, scoring more while inconsistent on the health front. I don't get why DAL wants Williams with his contract to come in as a backup to Flagg.
The contract even longer and larger than Williams might not be that big of a deal but the Bulls just signed Norman Powell for a year plus a TO, you don't want to hold back Sharpe behind him or look like fools for signing Powell for pretty good money and push him to the bench. The other thing is the Bulls shift two bigs, and for all the btchin' Williams is the backup 3/4 they give up on Essengue after not seeing him in 15 NBA games for a guard. Sharpe would be playing, shifting Okoro to the SF off the bench, SF Buzelis getting backup PF minutes while Leonard Miller moves up the depth chart.

I don't like this for Dallas. I'm not sold enough on Scoot to make his cost $15M more per year plus a roster spot. Dallas would need to know he was a legit starter with upside to take on that burden while giving up a solid player paid reasonably on top of that.
I think if Portland would do something around Washington for him, great. If not, I'd walk away before paying this financial cost.

TBH OP was inspired by the original IQ/RJ for OG trade that Masai made.

I don't get it? RJ was overpaid, but still very much playable. Williams is just dead weight. Also, you know how I felt about that trade both at the time and still now. I think it was really brutal for the Raptors.

RJ was terrible while on the knicks at the time
(-10 on/off, -2 bpm, 53% TS) and made more than williams. Wouldnt really call him playable prior to his turnaround with Darko.
Just mentioning Masai likes to gamble on a young talent even if it means taking on a bad salary

PJ fits our roster better but Sharpe is much younger and advanced stats dont really paint Washington as well as one would expect. I am tepid on a straight Sharpe for PJ move, but this adds in Scoot and values him pretty low at a 3PT spotup shooter and a few SRP.
No for me from PDX.

That is not my takeaway from that transaction.
Donnie Nelson and Mark Cuban liked to gamble on talent by taking on bad salary. They did it for 15 years to great success under a less punitive CBA. Masai waited too long to deal players and took bad deals. Sure I'm guessing he liked IQ/RJ way more than the rest of the league, but I don't think he thought wow I'm getting this untapped gold in IQ here. He had to have known he bungled OG and Siakam.
I'd love to put a positive spin on it now that he runs the team I root for, but I can't do so just because he's the MAvs guy now. That was a terrible trade and he should have dealt him sooner or extended him. And if OG wouldn't have extended, just letting him walk would have been better than making that trade and immediately overpaying IQ like that.
Kawhi may save the Raps from themselves in the end, but I don't have to tell you how hamstrung the team is from that trade and the trade/extension of Poeltl. It's why he doesn't work there any longer.

I don't think the Bulls get to delete 3 more years of PAW for just a couple 2nd rounders.

Essence is a late lotto pick coming off a major injury. He's probably worth a decent second at this stage, not really worth taking on Pat Williams for.

Whoever gets stuck paying Scoots next contract will regret it.
