Mobley to MEM
Mobley
for
Edey
Grant
Hendricks
2 1sts
Separate supplemental trade:
TPE for Schroeder
Cleveland would retool its frontcourt by adding: (i) Edey as a backup/starting center who would provide a different from Allen skillset at the center position, (ii) Grant as their starting PF, who still can shoot and can be otherwise productive in a limited role due to his experience, and (iii) Hendricks as his backup PF, hoping he will finally meet the expectations. Cleveland also get 2 1sts (the quality to be discussed) and tax relief via the supplemental Schroeder trade to cover the gap in value.
Memphis would get a legitimate star, who is young enough to fit within the timeline of Coward and Boozer.

Re: Mobley to MEM
I dont see it.
First off, MEM traded JJJ because he was paid a ton and wasnt a true 1 or 2. For them to turn around and basically move this package for the same player would be totally nonsensical IMO.
As for CLE, they want to win now and this trade doesnt help them in that regard. They would need a follow up trade because Edey and Allen sure as hell cant share the floor. It makes little sense for them unless they decide to pivot to a rebuild, which isnt happening after paying Mitchell about 1/4th a billion dollars.
So really dont see it all around.

Re: Mobley to MEM
you're better off targeting Allen with that package (maybe minus a pick), can't see this being anywhere close for Mobley
investigate Adam Silver

I don't think this is close for Cleveland. I'd have the package of Edey/Grant/Hendricks as roughly filler.

Cleveland gets worse at its starting PF minutes, worse at its backup C minutes, mildly better at bench PF minutes and hurts themselves long-term.
No thanks.

This would be a very short conversation. The Cavs aren't going to be sellers this year, and if Mobley were to go on the market next summer, I think some fans are going to be surprised at how high the bids go.
This will end badly

First agree Cleveland won't and shouldn't sell, certainly not on Mobley right now.
Second, curious what you think bids might look like.

It will really depend on how his shooting fares this year? if he continues to shoot like last year then i agree it wont be very high. If his shooting rebounds then i can see a JJJ like return

reading between the lines, I assume he thinks a JJJ return is far too low. But want to give him a chance to tell us. But better players have been moved without premium returns and because Mobley isn't best player on a contender level of player I see no reason why he should be an exception.

JJJ is better offensively, but that the ballpark of value, OP isn't far off that value.

OP doesnt specify which firsts is available. I have it worth about a FRP less than the JJJ package utah paid

Mobley is the archetype for what will be needed against Wemby and Chet so I think his value has a chance to up-turn.
IMO he is held back a bit by being a 4. He is maintaining a slender frame, perhaps intentionally. he really needs to at least evolve like KG physically if not really fill out and become a highly versatile true center.

This package is good for Allen, not Mobley.

In a vacuum, I think he should return slightly more than JJJ based on availability and rebounding alone. I'd expect that if they make him available it will be for really good players though and not a pick package. Between Mitchell's extension and the fact that they won't control their picks until 2030, they really have no incentive to accept a rebuild package, or trade him at all if the right offer doesn't come. .
My personal thought with him is that time to stop trying to force him to become a 25 ppg player and just have him focus on what he does well. His assists have climbed every year and he finished just under 4apg in the playoffs. I like him to get that number to 5 as a secondary hub who focuses on defense and rebounding. I'd live with 16-18 ppg on efficient scoring. That's a really, really good player even if he never develops that KG midrange game.
This will end badly

I have Edey > LAL 27 1st + Claytron, and the 2 1sts are equal, so it really comes down to the valuation of Edey.

I've proposed multiple trades for Allen and was repeatedly told that Mobely ahouldn't play the 5 and that Allen ia better at the 5, PBP stats do suport this FWIW.

Re: Mobley to MEM
As a Grizz fan no interest in Mobley. That interest left in our last era. Edey if healthy may be just as impactful and a better fit next to Cam Boozer.
Value wise it’s probably a an asset short but Mobley is paid a lot for minimal playoff impact similar to JJJ (also can’t play center full time) in a lot of regards and no interest in going down that path again.
Also Cavs have no need for Edey and Allen.

And the inclusion of Grant's contract instead of Konchar's/space. Then it just comes down to the other picks. The JJJ deal also included a "best of Cle/Min/Uta 1st" in 2027 and a Phoenix unprotected 2031 1st, which could be viewed as VERY valuable.
Probably eye of the beholder stuff? I think the JJJ trade was a little more, but I also think Cleveland is further from the edge of needing to "start over", so motivation was definitely more in Memphis's corner than Cleveland's?
