End of an incredible career.
And of course, in Russ fashion, the announcement is a little different.

I think he exceeded all expectations anyone could have imagined for him. A very solid career.

The peak was great, but the late career chaos goblin (complimentary) period was the most fun for me personally as a neutral fan. Outliers that can succeed in unexpected situations are entertaining.

Will a contender come knocking if they need a backup PG for a playoff push?

Agreed. The wheels fell off, but the motor just kept on running

Disappointed that the Jazz didn't keep him at least one of the few times they acquired him in these last few years. One hell of a competitor. Hoping that he's happy in retirement.

Thunder Love!
Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti: "Russell Westbrook is the ultimate competitor. His internal belief and unbridled fearlessness helped establish the foundation of our organization from day one in 2008 and he elevated the confidence and inspired our community in every year thereafter. Russell will be as successful in his life after basketball as he was during his career because his qualities and gifts transfer. His impact on our community is still felt today, and he is beloved for his devotion as much as his talent. He built a Hall of Fame career not by making statements or simply by breaking records, he did it by showing us all the power of asking one simple question: Why Not?”

Good luck with his next chapter.
Always enjoyed that he tried his all no matter the results.
**** it , we got one open roster spot. Let’s signed him for the first home game and then he can move to his next part of his life.

Sad that my first reaction was relief that the Wizards can't sign him now.
Massively fun player to watch with a great motor even in his later years. Loved watching him in his prime, in his late career (including an impressive year with the Wiz) and wish him the best.

Seems to me that he could have helped some team as backup pg. He averaged 15 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.7 assists shot 33.8% from 3pt range. Not bad numbers for a minimum contract guy.

Would’ve loved to see him another year where he accepted a 20-25mpg role. Feels like there’s multiple teams that would’ve loved him off the bench.
Understand he’s done enough though.
