I woundt trade CMB for him, let alone CMB + 2 1sts. Murray isnt worth more than Brown, and he kills our cap. And you have the Raps eating Braun here too. Just a bad trade for Toronto in every way

Massive overpay by Toronto. As mademen notes, they aren't including CMB in a deal like this, especially not if they're taking back Braun and Nnaji

Value wise, i have CMB worth more in a vacuum than Murray. Murray has the same issues as Jaylen Brown, in that he's a good player, a low to mid level star depending on the year, overpaid with some mileage. It's just difficult to justify trading a lot for him in the new NBA where being cap conscious is important, and depth plays a bigger role than ever before. Raps just arent the target for Murray, imo.
And i know the trade board doesnt rate him, but Raps genuinely like Quickley. If the Raps are looking for an upgrade, i dont think its gonna be pg. It'll be RJ for an upgrade in fit/talent on the wings (Trey Murphy maybe?)

I think there is economic value of Jamal Murray playing up north that might appeal to Edward Rogers. So I think there would be interest in Murray.

Toronto has a multi-year sellout streak for regular-season and playoff home games spanning back well over a decade. With Kawhi back they are likely continue to sell out every game for the foreseeable future. Don't really think Murray is going to move the needle much if any economically.

We already have RJ. And if youre paying 140 mill in yearly salary between Scottie/Kawhi/Murray, the economic benefits are going to have to be pretty ridiculous to overcome the tax spending.
The risk-reward just isnt there for Murray. We're already a team thats going to live and die in the playoffs based on Kawhi's availability/health. Murray helps, sure, but we cant double down and trade our remaining picks and best young talent when Kawhi may very well not be available. The youth and picks over the next couple years are to hedge against Kawhi falling apart.

In merchandising sales it would make a bigger impact than RJ or Quickly. I could see Murray selling more than Barnes foes for the raptors

While i also think OP is a massive overpay, he is saying in the event of kawhi trade not happening so we wouldnt have both players

They would benefit from in arena sales where they get to keep a larger portion of the revenue. But you are talking maybe 2-3 million more in profit on the high side.

Re: Denver Toronto. Jamal goes back to Canada
That's a gross overpay for Toronto CMB isn't going. Your sending Toronto's starting SG and probably 6th man for Nanji who is a bad contract and player IMHO he's a minimum type of player and Braun who is a 7th-8th man type with a bad deal.
The upgrade from Quick to Murray isn't worth giving up multiple first plus better players us taking on two toxic deals even with Jakob Poeltl and no CMB I still think Toronto says no

Yeah people have no idea how good CMB is yet. He’s their third most important player after Leonard and Barnes.

CMB himself is worth more than Murray. Murray's career will fall off a cliff without Jokic. It's probably why he's ass in international play.

he actually did really well when Jokic was out last season, and he is ass in international play because he played with SGA who demands ball same as he does, and ofc you give it to SGA as he is better player...They wanted Murray to play like Mario Chalmers with also Barret and Brooks taking more shoots than he did...its like putting fish next to a tree and asking to climb it...and no, I don't think Denver should do a trade from first post, I dont like Quickley and RJ on Nuggets.

When you're a 50M dollar player these excuses don't hold up.
If you're losing touches to Brooks and RJ it means you're a similar level player. The best players find a way to get the ball and touches. Murray has issues with that and on defense.
I would say he is under rated in terms of how bad his contract is.

Is Murray better than IQ? Yes, however the downgrade from RJ to Braun isn't worth that plus adding a grand canyon sized gap downgrade of CMB to Nanji makes it worse plus Toronto throwing away first round draft picks unnecessarily is the cherry on an already sweet return for Denver.
They (Denver) get better across the board while Toronto gets worse. IMHO Jamal Murray is closer to something like a top 10-15ish PG but Toronto is paying up like he's top 5-7. Before you disagree Trae Young who is probably in the same range as Murray is not closer to the top 7-10 got traded for far less than this. Kispert and RJ have similar values with RJ probably getting the edge. CJ and IQ are not miles apart in value. Washington traded zero draft capital, young prospects and took no bad money back.
