Not for nothing, but the O.P. keeps trying get rid of the few players who netted out positive impacts across 18 playoff games and I cannot think of a reason that the Cavs F.O. would agree with that assessment.

I agree that we're probably done for now, but if the bench looks weak by midseason a deal breaking down Allen (or Mobley) for a lesser big man and rotation depth is going to be one of the few levers we will be able to pull. But the calendar will flip to 2027 before we do that, most likely.

I don't see how you lock yourself into a Mitchell/Harden backcourt for multiple seasons, trade one of Allen or Mobley, and save your defense. It's a lot easier to get worse than better by breaking up a good starting unit.

Hopefully you get a decent defender or two back in the deal.

I'm not saying the Cavs should do this. I'm saying that it's one of the few options they'll have to bolster the bench. Harden won't return multiple rotation guys on his own, if they want off Watson's deal this year then he's not returning value either, and they're not trading Mitchell for depth. After that you don't have enough salary to get multiple rotation players back unless one of the bigs go.
