Trade #2:

1st 2027 (via Lakers, top-10 protected)
Denver would move from the Murray heavy salary and get solid flexibility in anticipation of Jokic`s extension.
Memphis would get a great veteran to help its young core reach the top level.

Re: Murray to Memphis
I cannot imagine the summer before trying to re-sign Jokic that the Nuggets would pay to dump he and Cam Johnson and just completely blow up all chances to compete this year.
Not sure Memphis should do this, but Denver definitely isn't going to so it dies there and quickly.

Re: Murray to Memphis
It's rough that they let Peyton Watson go for what they did.
But this is kind of silly tbh. It tanks their chances of winning and even hurts their chances of keeping Jokic, and they don't really get anything out of the deal.

Yeah I think any Murray trade has to at least plausibly keep them in contention (or at least not make them worse) or it's DOA

Even if DEN goes that route, they don't owe a 1st, they are even owed a 1st if it's CamJo and not Braun, Memphis are sending bad money in the deal.

Re: Murray to Memphis
I think the time for contemplating moving Murray for cap relief has passed. The whole point to the idea would be to save enough money to resign Watson and try and reload on the fly around a younger, more defensively-capable lineup. But now that Watson is already gone, they'll probably just run it back, win 47 games, and lose in the 1st or 2nd round.

Re: Murray to Memphis
I have to imagine that wanting this type of premium for cap space is why the Grizzlies and Bulls were not involved in any of the cap clearing moves this summer.
This will end badly
