Patrick Williams for Shaedon Sharpe

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Tue Aug 25, 2026 3:21 am

CHI trades: Patrick Williams
POR trades: Shaedon Sharpe

Williams has one less year and is paid less annually than Sharpe, so Portland saves some money over the course of their contracts. Williams sucks and has no potential for improvement. This also gives a little more depth at the 3/4 if Portland cares (but again, Williams is a bad NBA player).

Sharpe has some physical characteristics and individual scoring ability but isn't efficient. He is still only 23 so there is potential to improve, but he is out for the season and paid more than Williams.

When healthy, Sharpe is better. Portland wasn't competing this year anyway. So along those lines, while I see the logic, I believe that there would need to be some legit sweetening to the deal by Chicago for this to happen.

As a Bulls fan I was going to say yes until I realised Sharpe was going to be out for the next 6 months. Meniscus issues are no joke so I'm not going to touch that.

The Bulls will just ride out Patrick Williams for the next 12 months and might be able to dump him with a couple of seconds next offseason. Who knows, a new coach might actually be able to make him a useful role player in a magical fantasy land.

Full report says 6 months at the earliest, targeting a post ASB return. I am not sure the usual timeline with these things, I think it varies depending on whether it is a full tear or partial. I don't think he will be hustled back, though. More important to think about longevity.

Even if PORT isn't really competing this year you can't have it both ways which every Williams trade idea wants to have it, what team thinks a guy who sucks can provide depth? The other online fantasy is that a new team might find a way to better use him, well the Bulls have a brand new full staff why are they not considered good enough coaches to find a way to bring out more in him?

Even with the length of contract, $ difference and the injury, Bulls would have to add a protected 1st.

Not worth it for them. In theory, Sharpe could be a perfect fit with Giddey/Sharpe/Matas/Wilson/C
Giddey would be throwing oops all day

But, I don't know if Sharpe is worth it

Sharpe for PWill and a top 12 protected 2027 Bulls' first? Thing is, Bulls would only want a one year option (in top 12, pick immediately becomes 2 seconds).

How is Sharpe's defense?

Wait why does a 6 month injury suddenly make Portland dump him to Chicago? I’m so lost

I don’t get the impression the blazers are trying to shed him. Sure, the backcourt is unbalanced, but two of those guys are 36 years old.

I'm not very high on Sharpe, but he has to be worth more than Patrick Williams.

Minny should continue their 2020 draft compilation and go after P-Will. They'll have 3 of the best from that class: Ant, McDaniels, Ball; and 2 of the worst: P-Will, Josh Green

This is basically where I'm at. I wouldn't want either on their current contracts but if I had to pick one, I'd pick Sharpe even post-injury.

P-Will might be the worst player making above the minimum in the league.

Bulls still owe a 1st here even if Sharpe is out for the year.

I think an injured sharpe is still worth more than Williams by a reasonable amount. . IF williams was being traded into capspace I'm thinking it would take 2 first to move his contract, so probably at the minimum a protected first needs to be headed to portland.

Bulls owe here in a straight up trade as others have noted. This makes the deal a non starter as using picks to get off of p will at this time is directionally not something the Bulls should be considering in my opinion.

If I am Portland I don't do that deal. Whatever this version of Sharpe is it's higher than Williams ceiling. Pat Williams is looking more like a bust each year that passes. Last year was rough for him outside the three point shot he doesn't really do anything well.
