Minny-Chi
Jalen Smith for Josh Green, but Minny gives Chi a top 3 protected 2031 pick swap
Minny could REALLY use a guy like Smith, and they save $5 million (which is a lot more with tax)
For the Bulls, I like Smith but we have bigs (and can sign another) and we could use another SG more.
The pick swap could be very nice even though it's 5 years in the future

Re: Minny-Chi
Minnesota shouldn't be trading a high-variance pick for this.

Re: Minny-Chi
I don’t have Smith worth that kind of a pick swap.

Re: Minny-Chi
Jalen Smith would be a terrific supporting piece for the Wolves at PF/C but there's no way the Pick Swap should be any better than Top 15 protected IMO.

No way for the Bulls-JSmith is much better than JGreen and a PERFECT fit along Ball/Edwards/McDaniels/Gobert
Then, you have super sub Ayo and Kuminga as the main bench pieces. Smith can also play the five
Plus, they save $5 million in salary and a bunch more in tax.
Bulls wouldn't do it for less, I'd think

Re: Minny-Chi
So there's the disconnect- without being 100% sure, id imagine the pitch to Kuminga was hed get the best shot at starting PF and major minutes. So Smith becomes the 3rd big. And an expiring bench big isn't going to be worth it to the wolves to give up what little trade assets they have left.pipfan wrote:Slim Tubby wrote:Jalen Smith would be a terrific supporting piece for the Wolves at PF/C but there's no way the Pick Swap should be any better than Top 15 protected IMO.

I don’t have 5M in cap and a 3rd big (who’s expiring) worth a top 3 protected pick swap. Sorry.

Sounds good-thanks for the feedback. I thought maybe Kuminga might have received a guarantee, but Smith could still play 26-30 minutes/night. He'd be a better starting PF than Kuminga, but not a big deal.
I see the desire not to do it-but Minny is win now and Smith helps a lot I think. But, Smith is fine in Chicago too-no need to deal him

Re: Minny-Chi
I think you posted something similar recently and it's the core concept that doesn't work; Smith is not worth a pick swap like this

Re: Minny-Chi
I like the player/concept you presented but giving up a Top 3 protected future swap is far too big of a risk for an expiring contract IMO.pipfan wrote:Slim Tubby wrote:Jalen Smith would be a terrific supporting piece for the Wolves at PF/C but there's no way the Pick Swap should be any better than Top 15 protected IMO.

The need for Jalen Smith plummeted when they got Kuminga.
