Tmac for Rip

Detroit includes enough expirings to make it work.
Why for Detroit: Might screw up the great chemistry this team has, but tmac is a superstar... Worth a chance?
Why for Houston: Rip is a great shooting guard on a great contract that does not dominate the ball. Shoots lights out and is only getting stronger as the season goes along.

I dont know about that. Max is the reason the Pistons bench is so damn good right now. However, Houston would have their option of what expirings minus hayes that would be included. Hermann or Flip would be ok given the chance. Second round picks are alwys an option as well.

Not with TMac's level of health, he wouldn't.

Houston would definitely wait until the end of the year before even considering it. Rip just isn't on Tmac's level. But Tmac has struggled to stay healthy. All things considered, the Pistons take a big risk and lose a sure thing, and the Rockets dilute their talent. Not attractive from either end.

Its amazing how TMac's trade value has dropped on realgm. Give it another week, Houston would have to include Yao just to make other teams take on TMac. lol
How about Alston for Billups? Houston includes enough expirings to make it work.
Why for Detroit: I don't know. just to downgrade their PG position?

Pistons decline. T-mac is always injured and when he's not, he's still not good enough to succeed in the playoffs. For a team that is in a "Finals or bust" mode, T-Mac is one of the plat players Dumars would want.

ehhh....i dunno..i dont think the pistons would take on the chance of ruining there chemistry.

Not saying Rip is better than TMac, but from a Pistons standpoint as a Pistons fan I would not want this trade to happen.
I'm not a fan of TMac's game at all. He's never been out of the first round.
And it still bothers me that back in the day when he was in Orlando, the Magic were up 3-1 and TMac said "it feels great to finally be able to get past the first round" even though he had one more game to win!
Of course the Pistons won the next 3 games...

The OPis ludicrous thinking he can get Tmac for Rip.
Billups & Rip for Tmac & Alston is much more online because Rip just don't have that much value despite his hot streak right now.

Rip does not have the athleticism of Tmac, and he's not the all out scorer that Tmac is but I don't know if a single Pistons fan here would take TMac over him.
And the good thing is, we don't have to worry because Dumars knows too much about basketball to make a trade like that. Rip and Billups play extremely well together.
As far as offensive numbers go...
TMac 22.8 PPG 43.9% FG, 33% 3pt, 70.5% FT, 2.44 TOPG
Rip 18.1 PPG, 49.8% FG, 49.1% 3pt, 80.4% FT, 1.93 TOPG
Rip is a much more efficient scorer! Tmac takes about 20 shots per game compared to Rip taking less than 15.
Rip is a major reason that Detroit's offense is #1 in efficiency (points per 100 possessions).

Kobe 27.1 PPG 44.2% FG, 33.5% 3pt, 85.3% FT, 3.3 TOPG
let me guess....... Rip is much more efficient scorer. so no Detroit fan would take Kobe over Rip.

Rip and Kobe have proven they're winners.
Kobe doesn't have chronic injury problems like TMac.
Rip makes half of what Tmac makes.
Rip has a chemistry with the Pistons, and the Pistons are an elite team.
Honestly, I think a combo of Rip and Yao would be better for Houston too, but that's a moot point.
I'd bet the farm that Dumars wouldn't trade Rip for Tmac.

2 point's
1) You never hear anyone say "let's take Pip out of the game and make the rest of the team beat you" and you do with T-mac.
2) Nobody is afraid of the Pistons. They would be if the starting lineup included Billups/T-Mac/Prince/Sheed.
Thus "I'd bet the farm that Dumars wouldn't trade Rip for Tmac." is just plain out false and homerish!

Like I said before, I'm not saying Rip is "better" than Tmac.
But IMO there's no question that Rip is better than Tmac for the Pistons.

No... I think he is right. Considering contract, production, chemistry, and injury issues, Rip for Tmac is not an easy trade for the Pistons.

That's the thing about the Pistons, they are so focused that it doesn't matter who does the scoring. They are all unselfish. Rip just had a game he shot 9 out of 10. Is Tmac going to be ok taking just 10 shots?
No one is afraid of Billups/Rip/Prince/Sheed? Well one thing we know is that no one can stop them, because they score more points per 100 possesions than any other team.
They're the most efficient offense in the NBA

I would have to fathom a guess that more teams are afraid of Rip and the Pistons than they are of T-Mac and the Rockets.
Not saying they wouldn't fear us even more if we had T-Mac(when healthy) just that there are mos def teams that fear us plenty as is. One thing the opposing team would appreciate when playing the Pistons plus T-Mac over Rip is not having to constantly follow Rip all over the floor.
This trade is intriguing for sure but it is tough to say how team chemitry could be affected and how well McGrady's health holds up. A deal like this would be a tough call IMHO unless situations in tha D change dramatically.
I also don't think this would be the best move for Houston as they could probably do a bit better in a T-Mac deal.
