Phoenix sends:
Boris Diaw
Marcus Banks
Cleveland sends:
Larry Hughes
Cedric Simmons
NOTE: trade checker won't pass this, but according to shamsports salaries, its all kosher under the CBA rules.
Essentially a swap of god awful contracts... Cleveland trades Larry's deals slightly shorter length, for more production and the right to break the salary commitment into two smaller deals.
Phoenix gets two guys who could explode in their system. they shorten the length of their salary commitments, and don't have to give away any huge pieces to do so (Marion, Barbosa, etc.)

Heck no... This is terrible for the Cavs..
Banks and Diaw aren't very good players IMHO and don't give us anything we need or want...
Plus their contracts are way, way worse...
Hughes has 2.5 years left while Diaw has 4.5 and Banks 3.5.
Hughes may not be producing well and is oft-injured, but not for players who don't fit and have worse contracts...
Cavs decline quickly..

No, it's not kosher due to cap rules. Diaw is BYC, meaning his salary counts as 4.5 million outgoing for Pho. Banks is worth $3,966,207.
So 1.25($4.5 million+$3,966,207)+100,000=$10,682,758. That's all Phoenix can take back. Hughes by himself makes more than that ($12,000,084).
And I'd say Phoenix passes, even though Hughes would probably save them money in the long term. They're still hopeful Diaw will return to form (in which case this would be terrible for them). They really don't need any more guards.

You can meet the BYC by making the deal:
Hughes for Diaw + Banks + Piatkoski (exp)
Since CLE would have to drop two players to make the deal work, I'd recommend that PHO consider picking up a couple cheap deals for their TPE. This would keep them at a roster size of 13, and probably still reduce their salary. Pick from among Devin Brown, Shannon Brown, or Dwayne Jones if they just want expirings coming back. PHO might want more compensation, so they might want a different player, like Cedric Simmons. Also, note that the CAVS are over the lux, so the players CLE drops or sends to PHO will probably have something to do with salary, since they'd normally be adding it by adding $4.5 mil (half the BYC).

2 things wrong about this deal:
1. Phoenix is shoOort of big bodies and so they cannot afford to trade Diaw without getting a big body back.
2. Cleveland has a logjam at PF as is - Varejao and Gooden. Both are already struggling for PT.
If CLE fans want to get rid of Hughes' contract, NY is the best place to do it.
Hughes for Malik Rose + Jared Jeffries.
