AK-47 FOR Nocioni, this is it...

Post#1 » by Da110n0rcutt » Wed Jan 2, 2008 9:10 am

Chicago: Andrei Kirilenko, Ronnie Price, and 2nd round pick

Utah: Andres Nocioni, Joe Smith, and Chris Duhon

WHY:
Chicago solidifies their roster with a potential all-star in AK47 at the 4, imagine AK47 and Wallace down low for them, wow. Then get a replacement for Duhon in Price, and a through in a pick to solidify the deal.

Utah gets another outside shooting weapon in Nocioni, a back up big that can give his defensive presence in Smith, and a back up point that would play great behind Williams in Duhon.

Depths:
Chicago
1 Hinrich/Price/Curry
2 Gordon/Sefolosha/Griffin
3 Deng/Nichols/Khryapa
4 Kirilenko/Thomas
5 Wallace/Noah/Gray

Utah
1 Williams/Duhon/Hart
2 Korver/Brewer/Almond
3 Nocioni/Harpring/Miles
4 Boozer/Millsap/Fesenko
5 Okur/Smith/Collins

Ak is a better defender then Nocioni, Noc is kinda like a better harpring with more range and better man D. While I would love Duhon as the backup Point, I dont want to get rid of AK.

AK is doing fine in Utah this season, so the Jazz are not looking to move him. Unless you can give them a good shot-blocking C, AK won't be moved

even then he probably wouldn't be moved, okur is the more likely IMHO.

Sooooooooooooooooo.... Wallace for Okur?!

The value of the original deal is OK, but the fit is wrong for Utah. Noc' and Smith don't offer much that Harpring and Millsap can't supply. Duhon is nice, but doesn't drive this proposal. And as UTA fans always say, IF Kirilenko were to be moved, they would have to get a lockdown frontcourt defender (or two) in return.

Chicago needs a big who can score, not another defender. This is bad for both teams.

Yeah, that is the thing I don't see how both teams or even one of them gets better after the deal.

2nd round picks don't solidify trades of this magnitude.

As I said on the Jazz board, if this had been offered in the off-season, Utah would have been ecstatic to get such an offer for Kirilenko.

But now...AK is playing much better. He's our starting SF, but he's also our secondary playmaker and (sigh) our primary post defender/shotblocker. I think he's just too valuable for us, so while the added depth is nice, I'd rather not move him for Nocioni (whom I do like, BTW).
