1st ever post, so please be kind. I'm an undoubtedly biased Nuggets fan.

If TJFord gets well before the trade deadline, then:

TOR trades Calderon, Parker, Nesterovic
to
DEN for Nene, JRSmith, Atkins and Diawara

If TOR wants an expiring with a great attitude for Garbajosa, he could be added for Najera.

DEN gets the big, pass-first PG who can shoot that they need, along with the defensive SG they need to round out guard rotation and a decent big to replace Nene.

TOR gets young 2 and 5 with the types of game & big upsides that they need and a solid backup PG to replace Calderon. Diawara's useful for lock-down defense in late, timeout-per-possession situations (complements JRS very well at such times). JRS's contract expires this year, so if Mitchell can't get his attention, don't resign him. Parker and Nesto are good players, but if they're your starters, you're probably not going deep into the playoffs.

Any pointers about how to post, what not to say, etc... will be appreciated.

Denver does this in a second. Toronto doesn't receive equal value in return. Why not let the Nuggets keep Diawara and have them ship a first-rounder to Toronto?

sounds fair to me (1st instead of Diawara). Hard to gauge value of TOR players. Parker and Nesto starting, but shouldn't. Calderon, until recently, wasn't starting (and I presume will again take a back seat to a healthy TJ), but is likely the best player in this trade.

Toronto doesn't have much at center and Bargnani is slumping, so Nesterovic starts out of necessity. Otherwise, an accurate assessment.

You're underestimating Parker for sure... and maybe Rasho.

Parker is among the league leaders in 3pt %, a glue-guy that plays very good defense. He's a back to back Euroleague MVP, and a proven winner.

Rasho won championships as a starter not too long ago... a very good defensive presence.

But the real deal-breaker here is that Toronto is looking to build a team of character guys. I like what JR Smith is capable of on the floor, but he just doesn't fit in with the team mentality.

hue raptor fan and getting the first in trade would make this worthy of lookin at.not crazy about losin jose....but he would be a starter on 70% of the teams out there...good post for first try.....i get belted pretty well for my lopsided raptor trades...tnd to overvalue them as I am a season ticketholder

With TJ being a threat to go down at anytime, I don't think the Raptors would want to leave the backcourt so incredibly thin. Other than that the trade looks pretty good.
Maybe the Raptors could bring in a 3rd team to get a point guard in exchange for JR Smith.

The Raptors already get Atkins, so it might make more sense to swing him and JR, if TOR wants a better PG than Chucky.

With the 1st instead of Koub, I think the deal is fair and worthwhile for both sides. But I'm sure we'll see DEN fans proclaiming that Nene is a future HoFer, and has no business in this trade...

No, Carlos Arroyo wouldn't want to come here and do you think JJ Reddick would get much burn here? He's wouldn't crack the rotation over Dixon and Delfino. Dixon is a wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better player then JJ right now so Toronto wouldn't do that.

As for the orignal trade I don't see Toronto moving Calderon now since he's playing real well for us now. We don't need a big as bad as we need a starting PG. Atkins is like what 35 now? He's a suitable backup but more of a undersized 2 guard with some playmaking ability. Toronto would need a "true" backup point guard in this deal and we would have to ship JR Smith somewhere else as he would get very little PT as well with Moon, Kopono, Dixon and Delfino all finding their place with our system.

JR strikes me as a guy who has a starters mentality but isn't quite there yet. Plus his work ethic and attitude are questionable and would make most GM's pass.

we cant do this deal because of Ford's injury at the moment, having a logjam in the frontcourt is something we dont want right now, if we move someone for a front court player it'll have to be Bosh or Bargnani, but I doubt we get someone equal in value anyway.

Howabout a smaller deal like Najera for Graham and Dixon?

Perhaps the pick (or a second?) could be used to persuade Seattle to swap Smith for Delonte West?

This is relly good value we get for Calderon and Parker. JR Smith has great potential and he's only22.

Although as mentioned above, Toronto's built around character guys, and JR's idiocy will kill the chemistry. Also would a Nene/Bosh front court work out?
