This is probably one of the more perfect deals out there to be had in the NBA. Right down to the economical similarities, player fits and organizational similarities.

Here's the deal.

To Memphis

Michael Redd/Charlie Villanueva/Dan Gadzuric/David Noel/Jake Voskhul/2008 1st (top 10 protected)

To Milwaukee

Pau Gasol/Damon Stoudamire/Hakim Warrick/Brian Cardinal/Juan Carlos Navarro

Why?

The money going in and going out is almost identical for both teams. One factor to consider though is Jake Voskhul's trade kicker. Can't be that much but it can be handled by one of two ways. The Grizz kick in cash (that they would have to pay to Voskhul) or it can be covered by the Bucks waiving a player (Royal Ivey or Ramon Sessions) to lower their luxury tax penalty and save the cash to pay Voskhul that way.

If the Grizz kick in cash we might ask for a future 2nd.

Is Redd so much better than Miller that it's worth giving up Pau to have both?

Didn't the one you first posted not have the first in it? I tried to respond but it was already deleted.

Without the first, I'd do the deal without hesitation from the Bucks perspective.

I don't think we'd start a Damon/Mo back court. Mo's made some big strides as a PG this year and I don't want to stunt his development by having him play the 2. He's at around 22/9 over his last 5 games.

So unfortunately this probably leaves us starting Bell at the 2 and he's been one of the worst shooters in the NBA this season.

I don't see the Grizzlies much but it looks like Warrick can't play the 3 at all according to his 82games stats?

I'd rather do a Bogut/CV/filler for Gasol trade like I suggested a few weeks ago.

A pretty good point. Redd is pretty effective at scoring-yet fail to convince me he is 7 ft. Memphis is--meanwhile-tossing in some decent stuff,not getting a lot of wehat they'd LIKE to get

As a Grizz fan, that gives us better "fitting" talent in return IMO.

How bout this as another alternative:
Redd, Bogut, and Voshkul (sp?) & lotto protected pick for Gasol & Miller.

Memphis gets the explosive prime scorer they lack - as well as a good young center. And that gets rid of the problem the 1st trade had of making Miller just a backup.

Milwaukee gets Gasol plus a very good swingman in Miller. His ability to play the 3 adds more versatility to the lineup.

Then perhaps in another trade, Milwaukee lets Villa go for a defensive-minded forward.

Warrick isn't an answer, imo. He's too thin to defend the good PFs, and he doesn't have the perimeter game to play a lot of 3. In his 2 plus seasons, every year Memphis' opponents have scored more per possession when he's on the court vs when he's off.

That's exactly why you take him and we get Villy.

I rather give away our #1 pick in 2008 not top 10 protected and get Mike Conely involved in that deal.

I'd do that straight up. Villanueva has more mental lapses then a grandpa with altimeters.
