CHA trades Felton and Harrington

Portland trades Steve Blake, Sergio Rodriguez and '08 pick (top 10 protected).

Why for CHA: Their coach recently said Felton is more of a combo guard than a PG. There is also no suitable back up at the point so they seem to be in need of a pass first PG in a big way. In this case they get Blake who is decent and can get the Hornets into their offense. The future potential prize is Sergio who has the upside to develop into a great pass first PG. The pick will likely be one of the last few lottery picks, but is protected barring some unforeseen injury to one of their core players.

Why for PDX: Felton and Roy would make an intriguing back court. Felton is someone who can get into the paint, share ball handling duties, but play off the ball on the offensive end, while guarding opposing PGs. Also his ability to drive and dish should result in a lot of open looks for Aldridge and Webster. Harrington is filler on a cheap contract who comes off the books after the 08-09 season.

I feel Sergio Rodriguez has the potential to be better than Felton. The pick could also yield a solid point guard.

I think if the Blazers get a PG it needs to be a scoring point who can play off the ball and hit the 3. I don't see Felton being a good enough shooter to fill that role.

Certainly don't see Charlotte trading a guy who is delivering (and is what? 22, 23?) for a guy that might deliver and a pick that's:

A. Protected
B. Just as much a crap shoot.

As a Blazer fan I'd love to have Portland. But he's a mainstay at Charlotte as best I can tell.

I'd rather hang onto Felton than get one average pg and one pg who is potential only and often out of control and get back into the 1st round this draft and pick up Augustin.

In this case they get Blake who is decent and can get the Hornets into their offense.

^ My bad on the Hornets reference. I posted this trade well after my normal bed time last night.

Why not. Maybe Felton can come by Charlotte during the offseason and show off his ring in about 3 years.

Roy/Felton/Webster/LMA/Oden :o

Can't wait to see what our lame coach uses as an excuse after we can't win with Blake either.
