avery is clearly not going to play diop with bass coming along and dampier playing well, he is still very raw but is a great defender and a good rebounder. mavs need a pf/c with size thats athletic and or a sg. i would like a trade with maybe denver
dallas trades
desagna diop
mo ager
eddie jones
mavs get
steven hunter
jr smith
denver trades
steven hunter
jr smith
denver gets
diop
mo ager
eddie jones
why for dallas
when hunter was a free agent the mavs were really eyeing him before he signed with philly, hes young, athletic, and can block some shots and finish around the rim. jr smith would fit perfect in dallas because he could learn from avery, be the starting two guard, and with harris at the point he would be good on the wing as a shooter
why for denver
with nene and kmart often hurt and camby injured pass they need a big who can protect the paint, come in and continue to dominate defensively like camby does. jr smith is solid but has had problems staying outta trouble and with AI at the two he wont get enough minutes to develop. the other pieces are throw in to make salaries work but can be adjusted

Lakers offer Chris Mihm and Sasha for Diop and someone...

Mavs do not want sasha. I am not sure they want Denver's problems either.

How about Diop straight up for Rashad McCants?

Only if the mavs want to re-hire nelson and become the Warriors. Some may say that would be a good idea. Mavs would need a big back for Diop, or they are left with Dampier and Brandon Bass at C.

Doleac could be included from MN so that you have an emergency/backup center, but the only contract I see matching that from Dallas is D George.....I'm not sure how valuable he is to the Mavs.

Raps/Mavs:
Anthony Parker
Jorge Garbajosa
for
DeSagana Diop
Trenton Hassell
Jose Juan Barea
The Mavs pick up an athletic swingman who can shoot the rock very well. If Garbajosa comes back healthy, he does a little bit everything, and can be a really solid addition to their bench.
The Raps pick up an athletic/shotblocking big in Diop who can provide major minutes if Bargnani is struggling. Hassell is a good defender, and is a good player to have off the bench. Barea gives them another option at PG.

I wouldn't mind seeing a raw, defense-oriented center in MIN, but I wouldn't give up a lottery pick player like McCants for a guy that DAL is going to lose anyway to free agency. Or am I incorrect? What rights transfer to a team trading for Diop?
Maybe Doleac + MIN 2nd for Diop and Ager, Gerald Green for a DAL TPE.

Hunter is just as good if not better then Diop right now, not to mention that JR is worth much more then a broken down geriatric and a 1st round bust that cannot get off the bench on a team that needs SGs.

I can see the Raps having inerest in Diop but not at this price, especially not Parker

Any way to trade diop for Kurt Thomas? Would sea have interest? Only trade I could work was this, but it may be too much for Sea to give up
Thomas and Watson
for
Terry, Diop, and Hassell
Not sure that helps Sea all that much,a nd may hurt mavs by trading terry

Diop was drafted 8th (2001) and McCants 14th (2005), and I think we can agree that neither has played up to expectations. So why is Diop "raw" and McCants "a lottery pick player"?

Ben Wallace for Diop and whatever they have to sign KVH for to make it work.
Wallace is a battle-tested big man. Cuban might go for it?

How about Pietrus for Diop and Barea and on February 1 Juwan Howard for Warriors TPE (2.2 Mil from Diogu trade)? Not totally sure about Pietrus trade (cannot get to work on trade checker, Pietrus is BYC).
We can also put Hudson in the deal somehow if you want.

The Suns would love to have him, but I'm not sure if they're willing to give up anyone in their Top 7 outside of Diaw to get him.

Take it up with the original poster, who said:

My question: If a team trades for Diop, is it a five month rental? What future rights are included?
