Rockets-Cavs 8 player deal

Post#1 » by yaomac11-1 » Thu Jan 3, 2008 6:40 pm

Cavs send:

Larry Hughes G- Bench help to give T-Mac support

Drew Gooden PF- Big man to give Yao support

Daniel Gibson G- heads back to home town as starting PG

Rockets Send:

Shane Battier F- Good defense player to give King James help

Rafer Alston PG- Decent scoring point guard who can eat up a good amount of min.

Mike James G- good to come off the bench with Damon Jones or Eric Snow

Bonzi Wells G/F- Could challenge Pavlovic for starting spot

Kirk Snyder SG- gives good depth at SG spot

I don't like it for Houston. Gooden is definitely better than any PF we have on our roster right now, and he's a banger, so I like that next to Yao, but I don't think he's SO much better than Scola/Hayes to warrant trading our best defender, our best (not saying much) point guard, and our best bench player in Bonzi.

Gibson is nice, but he's basically Luther Head. And Hughes' contract is HORRIBLE. He's the new Antoine Walker. Lots of shots, very few makes, tons of dollars. He's definitely in the running for Worst Player of The Year.

I love Gibson's game and Gooden is a very serviceable player, but we give up our starting PG, SF, 6th man and some other depth (though James does have arguable negative value) for LARRY HUGHES and his horrible contract? It's alright but in the end, I believe we pass.

Way too much for the Cavs to give for Battier, a guy who plays SF. We have a pretty good SF ATM.

even though this deal isnt great and wont go through wouldnt the Cavs be able to move Lebron to SG if they got a player like Battier
