Grizz get:
Tyrus Thomas
Ben Gordon

Bulls get:
Pau Gasol
Brian Cardinal
Juan Carlos Navarro

Joe Smith
Chris Duhon

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE GRIZZ:
They deal away Gasol but get back a very promising replacement forward in Thomas. He has great upside and could blossom into a true stud with the Grizz. Ben Gordon is another nice piece; he's a legit 20ppg scorer and could make a great backcourt with Conley. They also get 9 mill in cap space with Brown's expiring deal.

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE BULLS:
They get that lowpost presence they've been lacking with Gasol. When healthy, he's a 20/10 big man. Gasol would compliment Wallace/Noah perfectly on the frontline. Cardinal and Navarro are quality role players.
BULLS LINE-UP:
PG-Hinrich/Navarro
SG-Sefolosha/Griffen
SF-Deng/Nocioni/Kryhapa
PF-Gasol/Cardinal
C-Wallace/Noah/Gray

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE LAKERS:
They deal away the disappointing Brown and get back two good role players to solidify the roster for a playoff run. Duhon provides more size and defense to the backcourt while Smith adds some consistency to the frontcourt.

Trade no.2 (between Memphis & Cleveland)

Shannon Brown
Ira Newble

Cavs get:
Damon Stoudamire
Casey Jacobsen

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE GRIZZ:
They clear more cap space and get younger.

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE CAVS:
They improve their situation at PG and pick up more shooters.


Trade no.3 (between Memphis & New Jersey)

Grizz get:
Jamaal Magloire
Bostjan Nachbar
conditional future 1st round pick

Nets get:
Stromile Swift
Hakim Warrick

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE GRIZZ:
They shave more salary and get back a future 1st.

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE NETS:
They pick up an athletic big man in Swift and a good bench guy in Warrick.

We already have Snow, Gibson, and Jones; what does Stoudemire add that one of those don't already give us? Plus Jacobsen wouldn't see any time with Pavlovic, D.Brown, Hughes and LeBron getting PT...

And on top of that for expirings?

Yeah you have the Griz getting value by sending Duhon and Stoudamire to teams that are already loaded with PGs, which is pretty unlikely.

I'm not sure they get that first from NJ, either.

The Lakers don't like it either. We're set at point guard for the next 10-15 years. Smith doesn't add much either. I would rather go after Kurt Thomas.

I think Stoudamire might help CLE, but they are so far over the lux after signing Anderson Varejao, that they can't afford to trade Ira Newble's expiring and pay double for Damon.

So the Grizz go from a 25 win team to an 18 win team for capspace? Without draft picks coming back to Memphis, capspace alone is not enough incentive for the Grizz to do a massive overhaul such as this - basically a 7 man rotation with even less depth up front than the current Grizz.

That's got to be one of the most assinine statements I've read here in years. I can see getting your rocks off to Bynum but I assume you're talking about Farmar and Crittendon. What the hell have those two done to deserve your hyperbole.

Seriously, CHI is the only interested trading partner in any of these deals.

I'd take Rodriguez and Fernandez over Critt and Farmar but I'd be really surprised if either amounted to much more than solid role players for 5-7 years which is about all we can expect from all but the best players in the league and that's if the injury bug doesn't get to them.

Are you of the opinion that Crittendon and Farmar are the greatest thing since sliced bread?

If that's some kind of jab at me I don't get it. While Rudy hasn't played an NBA game yet and Rodriguez is a 3rd stringer I see no reason why they can't be what I imagine the Laker duo could be, a couple of solid, but not 10-15 year start material.

If you view Farmar and Crittendon as all-star material I'd love to hear your reasoning.

He's just saying you are proving his argument by prefering Rodriguez (hasn't performed well) and Fernandez (hasn't even played an NBA game yet) to Farmar (playing well this year) and Crittenton (similar argument to Fernandez).

i think this is pretty good all in all. the nets trade would never happen, with or without the pick. swift is just terrible. no one wants to pay him. otherwise, its not bad.

Your rebuilding of the Grizz is mighty similiar to W's rebuilding of IraQ.
