NJ/SEA: Nets Load Up For Playoffs
Posted: Fri Jan 4, 2008 5:41 am
NJ Trades: Marcus Williams, Antoine Wright, Jamal Magliore, Jason Collins and a 1st rounder (lottery protected)
SEA Trades: Chris Wilcox, Earl Watson and Damien Wilkins
Why for NJ: As well as Sean Williams and Boone have played in recent games, they are putting a lot of pressure right now on two very inexperienced players. Wilcox gives them a much-needed steady player up front. Watson and Wilkins provide depth and outside shooting for a team that is currently dead last in 3-point shooting percentage. It also makes NJ a legitimate 10 or 11 deep when everyone's healthy
PG: Kidd, Watson, Armstrong
SG: Carter, Wilkins, Armstrong
SF: Jefferson, Nachbar
PF: Wilcox, S. Williams
C: Krstic, Boone
Why for SEA: The Sonics save around $16 million in the 08/09 and 09/10 seasons. For a team that appears poised to move and is looking at cap room in the summer of 09, this is huge. Williams provides a nice potential PG as well as a pick. The trade also creates room for some of SEA's young bigs.
