Jarron Collins, CJ Miles for Steven Hunter

Hunter may be good, but he's probably too expensive for a 3rd string center. Collins may be a better fit on that role. Denver get a talented SG in Miles as a replacement for JR Smith, whose feud with Coach Karl is ruining the team chemistry and will probably be gone soon.

UTA fans will say, "Hunter's not a Sloan guy. We constantly talk about needing more defense, but we will decline because he can't work in our offense; plus, didn't he rip a mattress tag off like 15 years ago? We don't want that troublemaker on our team."

DEN fans will say, "Collins is a stiff, and Miles would be our 7th-string SG, if we could make roster space for him. Hunter, who is a picture of health, is more valuable than either of UTA's garbage, by far. I mean, he and Bobby Jones are worth Reggie Evans; so Steven obviously hasa ton of trade value."

Not that they'd be right, but...

The way CJ has been playing lately, the last team in the league the Jazz ought to move him to is Denver. For all of Collins's weaknesses, Hunter isn't that much better, certainly not enough to give Denver a weapon in CJ to use against the Jazz. Doesn't this violate trade rule 1.0 - never trade a useful player to a divisional rival and frontrunner?

not worth adding Hunter for 10 minutes give or take to lose a real talent in CJ.

I'd probably do it from Denver's perspective.

Hunter hasn't played any meaningful minutes, and I Collins would probably be in the same position, basically an insurance policy. I think the down grade in talent at the back up C is worth it for a young prospect.

We only say that because Sloan is a tyrant that makes illogical decisions. It's not that we don't want "bad" players-I'd personally love to see Ron Artest in a Jazz uni-it's that the old coot in charge doesn't and he has final say in everything.

Tell me I'm wrong. Name the last guy with a bad history that the Jazz acquired. The closest is Robert Whaley, and he was the 50-somethingith pick in the draft and didn't last a year. It's a sad reality.

How else can you explain Jarron Collins's career? His only skill is occasionally drawing charges and he's been in the league for the better part of a decade. But, he is a "Sloan guy" and therefore is an All-Star in Jerry's eyes. He loves guys that lack athletic ability but "try hard" and say "please" and "thank you," even if there are more talented players available. It's quite frustrating.

I'd still say no to the trade, but because Miles is too good a prospect to give away for an alright backup, especially to our closest division rival. I'd love to pick up Hunter, just not in this deal.
