Memphis receive Wally
Heat receives Damon & M. Miller
Seattle receives Parker, Davis, Zo (to be waive) & two 2nd pick from the Heat
For the Grizz
The difference in talent between Wally and Miller is not much which means the lost of Mike will not hurt the Grizz but instead they get enough cap space for 2009 with Wally

Why is Seattle even in this trade? Memphis would rather have the package from the Heat.

IMO the Sonics do this deal in a heartbeat. Clears massive cap space for 2008/09, a year earlier than expected. The players the Sonics get in return for W Szczerbiak are considered expiring contracts only and are either waived or don't play significant roles.
The contrary view is that the Sonics may get a valuable role player from a contending team next year in exchange for W Szczerbiak, a 50/40/90 shooter with an expiring $13M contract. In this scenario the Sonics don't make the trade.

I don't think so. Wally is playing great and he is better than Davis. Wally's value next year will exceed Davis current value. Davis was never an all-star and Wally was for a reason.

Exactly. We don't need to sell low on Wally now to speed things up a year, and what would we do with two more 2nd rounders?

Wally's value next year will be as a large expiring contract and not really anything more.
