Why for Bucks: team needs a new direction, and if you're going to rebuild around Mo/Yi/Bogut, a defense-minded perimiter player is the way to go. Plus they get to dump Gadz's contract.

Why for Wolves: they seem like a rebuilding team as well, so maybe they don't want a veteran in his prime. This is a talent upgrade for them though, so maybe they consider? With Foye/Redd/Jefferson they still probably make the lotto one last time this year, and then would have a strong core going forward? I'm not sure.

Strangely, I'd pass on this if I ran the Wolves.

Gadzuric is playing with little motivation, and while he's not particularly expensive (like an MLE deal), its four long years. Redd has not been playing a team-oriented game, and while he's putting up the points, he's an expensive player at a position where there are a lot of stars.

Financially, losing our two expiring contracts in Ratliff + Doleac erases all MIN's space under the lux next year, so every addition (like even paying our draft picks), costs double. Glen Taylor won't be be bringing back Craig Smith, Gomes, or Telfair if MIN does this deal. In addition, MIN loses its lottery pick from last year.

Clearly this is a boost in production, but financially, and for trade value, its not a deal I would do. I can understand though how other MIN fans might disagree with my position.

Depends what you're looking for. If you're trading a guy like Redd, you can probably get a couple different packages in return. Either:

A: A different veteran borderline all-star from some team that wants to make a swap just to try something.
B: A lotto pick like the Sonics got for Ray Allen.
C: An opportunity to dump your bad contracts for expiring deals.

I don't like option A, because the Bucks are still a young team, and since that player obviously wouldn't be Lebron or Duncan, the new guy isn't going to lead them to glory either. If you decide to trade Redd, you do so to rebuild, not to spin in your tracks.

This trade is sort of a combo of B and C. It's a recent lotto pick who hasn't been panning out for his team, and an opportunity to dump one bad contract. The Bucks now have cap space, their own lotto pick, and a core of talented young players.

I think adamcz made a fair trade here, and he deserves kudos for not overvalueing his team's highest scorer .. a trap 95% of the posters here seem to do.

I just think MIN is the wrong team. MIN has a difficult money situation next season, and they are so far from winning, that paying max money this year to Redd is probably a waste. I think some other team though would make an offer that would be good for both teams.

Maybe it's just me viewing the situation through my homer tinted glasses, but I'd have to think twice about it either way. On the one hand, getting Redd would be a huge help for us and gives us one thing we need very badly and Gomes would be an acceptable SF, but this still leaves us one very important C short of being a contender with a 28 year old star. Not that that's too old, but our core is even significantly younger than that and Redd might be on the decline by the time everyone else on the roster is ready to compete.

No. This sucks for the Bucks, they can find the same sort of trade with a lot better value. And this is coming from someone who loves Corey Brewer.

It doesn't make any sense for Milwaukee and very little sense for Minny.

I said before the draft that Brewer was way overrated, and he's proving me right. The Bucks should get a lot more value for Redd.

And Minny is rebuilding. Why trade for a player who'll turn 29 this year and give you just enough wins to knock you out of a very high pick?

Brewer will be fine with time.

Id do it. Practically the Allen trade for Redd. If we rebuild, Id prolly do it.

How so? an 06-07 Ray Allen was practically the same player Redd is now but older. How is not not worth as much?

I'm not a Brewer fan and would have been very upset if the Bucks drafted him at 6 this year but I'd still probably make this trade.

Getting a guy who was drafted at #6 is comparable to what the Sonics got for Ray Allen. Brewer also fits a position of huge need at the 3 spot.

Add in dumping a ton of salary and its a very fair deal. Its also good value basketball wise for the Timberwolves but I doubt they want to take on that much salary to get Redd.

I don't want Redd on the Wolves - not even for this deal. Wrong timing, and it would kill our financial flexibility. That doesn't change the fact that the Bucks can do better - there are better deals on this board right now.

I can't be the only one who thinks Redd should be worth more than Allen - Redd is 4 years younger, and for a shooter, that's huge - 28 to 32 is generally prime for a player like that. Lets not forget that in addition to #5, Sonics got West for Allen, and he's played very well for them the few times I've watched.

nah we have nothing for Redd, you guys have players in the mold we would offer anyway, I just didnt think Mil was looking for drastic change
