Redd to Dallas - What would it take?

Post#1 » by Teddy KGB » Sun Jan 6, 2008 11:06 am

I think that Mike Redd would be a really good fit in Dallas, but what would it take to get him to the big D? Josh Howard and Dirk would be off bounds as they are both better than Redd but from the rest of the roster what could nab Redd?

I do not see much of redd, but is this re-acquiring Michael Finley? All that I read here is that Redd is a non defensive, soft, jump shooter. I know mavs needs that. And Dirk, Howard, and Redd would be a nice Trio.

I don't see a deal between these two teams, but Redd is actually less of a jumpshooter (statistically) than any Mav besides Devin Harris. 71% of his FGAs are jumpers (less than Dirk, Howard, JET, and Stack) and he gets more FTAs per game than anybody on our roster currently. He strikes me more as a scorer than a shooter these days. He's even upped his assists a little bit, though I don't think anyone would mistake for a real creator offensively (which is still the Mavs' biggest need, IMO).

If Howard isn't coming back I don't see Redd in Dallas.

And yes Redd has that kind of value.

And the Mavs wouldn't be stupid enough to do that.

I wouldn't do it if I were the Mavs either but that doesn't mean Dallas is going to get him for Jerry Stackhouse, Trenton Hassell, Devean George and Diop.

But if I'm the Bucks I'm not letting Redd walk out the door unless I get a guy like a Josh Howard or a sweet package that the Mavs can't come up with.

Thanks for the insult by the way. I'd expect more from a retired Mod. My point wasn't that Dallas should give up Howard for Redd but that the Bucks shouldn't let Redd go for scraps.

You know, before you start throwing sh*t around like, "I'd expect more from a retired Mod," why don't you consider for a second the possibility that I wasn't actually trying to insult you? Maybe even the possibility that you misconstrued my intent. Because I wasn't trying to insult anybody, and I'm sorry if I did.

I dont think a Dallas deal is really possible. I know they like Devin alot here and it may put people back in the seats to bring him home but a deal solely around Devin really wouldnt do it I dont think...

The conversation would have to begin with either Devin Harris or Josh Howard.

Since JH is untouchable I'm thinking some sort of package with Devin and Diop as the main proponents.

Bucks would probably look to move Mo then as well if we are blowing up our backcourt.

The only way to get Redd to Dallas, someone third team would have to take packages of Devin Harris and Jerry Stackhouse.

And that's the reason why everyone has said "I dont think a Dallas deal is really possible."

Even though Redd is a great player, the Mavs are fine with the Jones-Terry duo.

If that we so, why was Eddie Jones signed and Trenton Hassell traded for and Reyshawn Terry drafted?

Redd is a bad fit in Dallas. Dallas needs a defensive-minded SG who can drill an open shot. That's it. Any additional offensive skills would be under-utilized.

A guy like Raja Bell would help Dallas nearly as much as a guy like Redd. So why pay for Redd?

Mavs would love Raja Bell back. No way they can get him tho. The characters that they have now dont nearly match up to Raja
