Memphis/Detroit - Stoudamire to the Pistons

Post#1 » by pardon_my_interruption » Mon Jan 7, 2008 2:47 am

To Detroit:

Damon Stoudamire/Casey Jacobsen (waived)/Future 2nd round pick

To Memphis:

Aaron Afflalo/Lindsey Hunter (bought out)/Flip Murray

Moving Afflalo creates time for Stuckey as the backup to Rip while giving the Pistons an upgrade at backup PG in Damon Stoudamire.

Nothing in here that should make the Pistons abandon one of last year's first round picks.

Ok you got me.

I'm trying to get something for nothing here.

How about a fairer deal?

Kyle Lowry for Afflalo straight up.

Same reasoning.

Lowry backsup Billups.

Stuckey - Hamilton.

Detroit passes on both deals.

On the first, Stoudamire/Jacobsen/2nd isnt really worth anything, much less the 27th pick in the 2007 draft thats looking like he is panning out.

On the 2nd, Rodney Stuckey is being groomed as a POINT GUARD, Detroit really does not need another PG to take his minutes. Lowry seems like a pretty solid backup point- my only gripe with him is his mediocre defense (Afflalo is a MUCH better defender) and inability to truly run teh point. Although Stuckey has only played in 8 NBA games, Im convinced that he will be better than Lowry by all star break.

Stuckey is a better option at PG than Lowry, so Detroit says no to this one two because down the road it will be Billups/Stuckey, Hamilton/Afflalo and IMO thats a pretty solid backcourt.

Didn't know Stuckey was being groomed for the point. If so then I can see their turning this down.
