Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Toronto and Atlanta being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Toronto and Atlanta had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Toronto does this deal in order to finally get a guy that can take the load off Bosh and become that 2nd offensive threat in Johnson.
They also help solidy their PG rotation with Mighty mouse backing Calderon. Plus Wright seems like a guy who can come in give spot duty at the PF/C position.

Hawks do it because they grab Gasol a legit allstar bigman. They also add in TJ Ford a great young PG that they were desperately in need of for some time now to run the team. Chidress could easily slide dowm and play the SG in JJ's absense. While Graham can try and take over the reins of what was once Chill's job. Juan is an expiring contract that can be waived or kept.( I know this trade does not happen if TJ does not get back on the court but to all accounts heard in Toronto is that he is physically fine to get back into the game. It's just he's got to get back mentally. TJ himself expects to be back sooner rather than later. Expect a lte January early Febuary return.)

The Grizz go into full rebuild mode adding Bargs, Williams who are 2 young Bigs with good potential. Plus they get Parker a solid sg/sf who has only one year left on his contract and they also get Lue an expiring deal after the season. Plus the 1st round pick from Atlanta in 2009!

Bash Away!

1) Phoenix owns Atlanta pick in the 08 draft
2) Atlanta has the PG of their future in Law
3) I don't see how or why Toronto would want Joe Johnson's contract. Remember, Bryan Colangeo thought Joe Johnson was not worth that contract in Phoenix and had to convince them to trade him for what they got.
4) Shelden Williams is not a great potential big. He hasn't shown the ability to score.

We'll make an 09 pick

Law will never live up to that billing. Not a bad young player but pg/sg cross. The Hawks needba PG in the true sense of the word.

He maybe realizing the need for at least 2 allstar players on a team to help get through the bumps in regular season.

Young bigs take longer to develope. He has the potential to be a good player not great player in this league. Bargs on the other hand has great potential to be a very good player in this league.

O.k. the Hawks are not gonna give up on Law that quick and he definitely can play the point in the NBA.

Plus, Toronto does not need more star players, if it requires giving up Parker and Bargs. And when I say Colangeo builds his team his way, it involves guys who will not deviate from the offense and JJ probably is the exact opposite.

Shelden Williams is a bust. Guy doesn't get pt in Atlanta and if they felt there was any way he would grow into a starter, they would have taken Mike Conley over Al Horford, but they knew they would need a big.

giving up too much for JJ, i like his game but we cant give up 2 VERY young stars for a peaked star thats getting to his prime on a team where there are problems everywhere
