Raptors-Clippers (Calderon for Maggette)

Post#1 » by Hendrix » Mon Jan 7, 2008 9:21 pm

I really don't know his trade value so I'm just going to throw it out, and say if I need to go higher or lower. The trade is depending on if Ford comes back healthy for a bit.

Toronto trades

Jose Calderon
Jorge Garbajosa

Clippers trade

Corry Magette

Clips are thin at PG, and could use a young PG with Livingstons problems, and Cassells age.

Toronto is near the bottom of the league in points in the paint, FT shots, and needs some more talent at the wings.

Didn;t notice Maggette has a players option next year. Yeah that's key.

Terrible value for Toronto as we get no real point guard in return and with TJ Ford's injury past and the possibilty that he may never play again there is no way we deal Calderon at this point.

Maggette just gives Toronto yet another swingman and makes a even bigger logjam at the 2/3 with Kopono, Delfino, Moon, Graham and Dixon. LA gets serious value for Maggette here and Calderon would make that team one hell of a Western force with a lineup of Calderon/Mobley/Thornton or Thomas/Brand/Kaman that looks pretty competive to me and they could move Cassell for something like a good backup big man.

The 2nd deal is even worse no way would we want Tim Thomas and Cassell, Maggette for Graham, Calderon, Rasho, a first round pick and Garbojasa. Thats not what we are after since Cassell is old as dirt and is on the way out.

If Ford were healthy, for sure I'd consider this. It would take some minor tweaking on boths sides, but its a good idea.

With Ford out and questionable for his career, no way we can give up a 14 point, 10 assist point guard.

absolutely no way. Maggette could run after next year for all they know while Calderon would be locked for many years. A Calderon locked for many years on the Raps holds a lot more value than having Maggette play for 1.5 seasons.

Maggette for Calderon is iffy for me...throwing in a first rounder and taking back Thomas' contract is a definite no.
