PHI/TOR - Dalembert goes home

Post#1 » by Silk Wilkes » Mon Jan 7, 2008 11:26 pm

To PHI

Rasho Nesterovic (1 year left)
Juan Dixon (expiring)
Lottery Protected First rounder

To TOR

Samuel Dalembert
Louis Amundson
2 future 2nd rounders

PHI-Gets expiring contracts and get rid of Dalembert who they have appeared to have soured on. Nesterovic still has one year left but he can be a mentor and a guy with championship experience. One year is also better than waiting 3 years. Dixon is expiring this year.

TOR-Get a Canadian player who will most likely play his best for his home team. They get a rebounder and shotblocker in the post to protect Chris Bosh. Dalembert is exactly what the Raptors need imo. Amundson is an energy guy that does thing that do not show up in the stat sheet. Helps the team win games with effort and hustle (much like Anderson Varejao to a lesser extent).

What Moron told you Philly has soured on Dalembert ? The dude is averaging 12 Pts, 10 + rebounds and 3 blocks a game for the most part.

That package wouldn't get you Chris Mihm :-) :-) :-)

Dalembert is a bad contract, not an awful contract. And the 76ers are really short on bigmen. He's much better than people give him credit for.

Guys, don't shoot the messenger. I just post what I read in published articles. Personally, I think Dalembert is worth the money he's getting for the numbers he puts up. Guys like him don't come along very often. I was hoping the Raps could steal him. According to this article, the Sixers want to trade Dalembert, sign a new coach and use Miller and Iggy as building blocks. I know it sound silly but that's what happens when a new GM comes to town.

The article is from hoopsworld:

Well if you're going by that story, and that unnamed source, then you didn't read it very well. The two MAIN points are that Philly would want Immediate Cap relief in such a trade. And that a UNPROTECTED 1st round pick would have to comeback to Philly for them to even think about it. In your deal, you offer neither.

So.....

a league source says an unprotected first rounder this year would have to be included to even be considered

As others have said, this is exactly where you were led astray. This idea that we don't like Sammy is outdated by at least two or three months, and especially since Ed Stefanski came on board, our team's opinion of him has changed drastically.

What if I were to change it to a lottery protected first rounder?

No, it would have to be a totally UNPROTECTED 1st rounder. Plus, NO Nestrovic. Only players who's deals end THIS year. And even that still probably won't be enough for Dalembert. Toronto doesn't have the Ammo period

When you put it like that, it screws the deal totally. Anyways, nice doing business with you Philly, if you ever feel like Dalembert is available don't hesitate to tell Toronto first because we've replace Magloire with Dalembert as our native son, the US can have Magloire if they want.

way too good for us even if Daly's contract is bloated, i think we'll pass anyway since he'll be playing behind Bargs and Bosh

One thing is Toronto would have to be 100% sure that Bargnani is going to be a backup 4/5 for us for Colangelo to make this deal. Dalembert would give Toronto a great defensive C that we need in the worst way. His contract maybe long but not horrid as he's playing some great B-Ball as of late.

Oh yeah  at the guy who said Toronto couldn't get Mihm for that package. Toronto wouldn't want him for a first. Dixon and Nesto yes but adding a first is serious overpaying for a seriously injured C.
