Bulls/Memphis

Post#1 » by Bentley1225 » Tue Jan 8, 2008 4:05 pm

Certainly, with reports that Nocioni apparently wanted in a deal for Gasol and Stoudamire being demoted, I'll offer this idea, which is satisfied under Nocioni's BYC.

To Memphis
-Andreas Nocioni (5 years left)
-Joe Smith (1 year left)
-Chris Duhon (expiring)
-Victor Khryapa (expiring)
-2008 1st round pick (top 5 protected)
-2009 2nd round pick via New York

To Chicago
-Pau Gasol (3 years left)
-Damon Stoudamire (1 year left)

Why?

-Memphis gains cap flexibility and gains 2 potential lottery picks for this years draft. It puts them in a great position for 2009 FA period.

Conley/Lowry/Duhon*
Gay/Navarro*/Jacobsen*
Nocioni/Miller/Cardinal
Smith/Warrick/Khryapa*
Swift/Milcic/

Hinrich/Stoudamire
Shefolsha/Gordon/Curry
Deng/Griffin
Thomas/Noah
Gasol/Wallace/Gray

No thanks. That 1st round pick will probably be out of the lottery with Gasol on the bulls. So in reality, we get a mid to late 1st rounder Nocionni and some expirings for Gasol? I think Memphis can do better.

Cliff Levingston's deal is Nocioni + Joe Smith + Thomas or Noah (Memphis' choice) + 1st for Gasol and Navarro.

Memphis gets a couple good players that ought to fit their system (Nocioni and Thomas/Noah), a 1st rounder to help flesh out the roster and a good veteran who has a manageable contract. Chicago gets their post presence along with a guard who can replace Duhon's offensive ineptitude.

The Bulls would have to accept either deal.

If the 2009 2nd round pick was changed to Future lottery protected pick (2010), then I think the Grizz would accept.
