there really isn't any reason for the lakers to involve themselves in this, much less be throwing in rights to players and a first round pick.

Disgusting for the Clippers as well. I'm a Jayhawk, and even I know Hinrich's value is nowhere near Maggette's right now.

How in the world do the Lakers PAY (via a 1st and Marc Gasol) for the privilege of delaying their capspace by a year?! The upgrades to their 3rd string PG and C aren't nearly worth the extra year of salary, and the filler is just outright lunacy.

hinrich is having an off-year but the clippers take this and run if they're willing to pay kirk's contract.

I have a hard time believing that the bulls get Maggette and Gasol (not to mention Navarro and Cassell) but don't have to give up either Deng or Gordon.
