So that makes him have a BYC value of 4.5-5.0M in a sign-and-trade, which means you can take back at most 5.635-6.26M in salaries, but the incoming value for the team that get Iggy will be 9-10M, which violates the CBA rules if the team is over the cap.

so unless you package him with other players, you can't trade him to teams that are over the cap. Teams that are under the cap can make an offer to Iggy without discussing a trade with you, and if they choose to do a sign-and-trade, the offer won't be good. You'll be looking at something slightly better than what Seattle got for Rashard Lewis (maybe a 1st round pick and a dispensable young player instead of the 2 2nd rounders)

Since Iguodala would be the dreaded BYC, other salary would have to go too.

Using shamsports' listings for NEXT year's salary, this works:

Sixers trade/Jazz receive
Andre Iguodala
Reggie Evans

Jazz trade/Sixers receive
Paul Millsap
Ronnie Brewer
Jason Hart (will be expiring)
Matt Harpring (not expiring, but a good vet whose final year isn't fully guaranteed either)
1st rounder (or removal of protection on currently owed pick, or something)

I doubt this'll be the top offer, though.

EDIT -- This was devised with Iguodala starting at $9M. If he demands more, Utah could conceivably add Collins (also expiring at that point) and Iguodala's starting salary could be as high as $11.9M and still work. That would put a big crimp in our depth, though.

Since he already turned down Philly's offer before the season, I don't think he's going to agree to a $9-$10 mil salary. Put him at $12-$13.

Second, make a BYC package, and let us know what dollar value the incoming package needs to land in to meet the CBA requirements.

The team that adds him has got to be willing to meet Iggy's big salary, plus whoever's added, plus some extra money for the BYC salary match. It would be an interesting trade for an interesting package.

I see no reason for Philly to work out a S&T deal. Iggy is a restricted free agent. Philly has the right to match any salary. Nobody but Atlanta (and Philly) will be under the cap this offseason so nobody will be able to offer more than the MLE. Iggy's only leverage is to threaten to play his final season for the qualifying offer. And that's a pretty empty threat.

Let's say Philly is willing to start him at $8M for 6 years with 10.5% raises. That's 6-years, $60.6M. For it to make sense for him to turn down that offer, he'll have play for the qualifying offer (missing out on $4.2M in the process) and then hope that another team offers him a 5-year deal starting at $10.0M with 8.5% raises. That's a pretty big gamble considering that Summer 2009 boasts a lot of other good free agents. He'll also have to factor the risk of injury or a bad year ruining his value.

If I'm Philly's GM, I offer the 6-year $60M deal. It's a generous and fair offer. I'd tell him to take it or leave it. I wouldn't work out a sign and trade.

iggy is exactly the kind of guy the clippers need. good defense, long, makes good (better than maggette) decisions. maggette is great and all but the way i see it, the only way maggette is ever on a contending team is if he's coming off the bench or if he gets a coach who will increase his basketball iq significantly.

are you **** kidding me? Dre Dala is one of the best two way players ALREADY in this league. Hes right around Josh Howard/Caron Butler/Luol Deng value so get it right.
