I have said before that the most I would give for Z-Bo was Collins, Magloire and one of our minimum contracts. I would give Wright for Mardy, so I would do this deal.
If the Knicks want to hold onto Mardy, I would also do the trade with Chandler or Morris involved, if NYK would accept Nachbar.
There are lots of variations to this deal, but it's basically production for contract flexibility. On principle, I don't think either team would help the other, but it makes sense.

I completely disagree. This deal does not help the Knicks at all on the court and financially it doesn't help us until after next season. Combined with the fact that we will have even more trouble winning without Randolph as we have had with him there is no reason to settle for a deal as bad as this. We can afford to wait to see if something better came along and it wouldn't take much.

Not helping you financially, and not getting under the luxury tax, are two separate things. If the Knicks want to save ~ $50mil in contractual baggage, then this deal should peak their interest. But no one needs Zach Randolph, and the Nets sure aren't chasing him. If you don't liek the offer, by all means, keep him. I quite enjoy the show, and would hate to ruin it!

This kind of deal might happen if Thomas gets fired, but he just traded Francis' contract for Randolph's. The Knicks could have lost this $$$ off the cap in the summer of '09 and kept Frye if they wanted to. Why would they give up so fast? At least wait until next season and see if Randolph's game improves

Well if you like the show as is you would have loved watching the Knicks after this deal.
