Ok ill admit i havnt been on this tradeboard for a long time, so my values might be a bit low, but i tried my best to make fair trades

In no WAY,SHAPE or FORM is Willie Green and Reggie Evans worth an unprotected 1st round pick.

well how about giving them the 2 2nd rounders and seattle the first rounder

that seems much more fair. and i definitely like the trail of thought ur on may need a little tweaking but really seem like good trades both of them.

Ridnour's value is at an all-time low. He's not worth a 1st rd. pick either.

If you want a productive bench, MIN is more than willing to give up production if they can get back prospects and/or cap relief. How's this look?

Jaric is having a good season, and can back up the 1, 2, or 3. His back court size and defense would pair well with either Chris Paul or Pargo, and CP would love his willingness to pass the ball. He might even start at the 2. Ryan Gomes is young, but has started over 100 games in his brief career. His game is about hard work and muscle, and he plays smart so he can score inside or outside. He'd be a nice back-up to have if Peja gets hurt. Craig Smith ended the season as a top ten rookie last year, despite being been an early second round pick. He's under-size, but plays well as a PF using great strength, and speed to get his shots off against taller opponents. Doleac is a vet, and an expiring. 20 PPG should be an instant impact

Jaric is a lot better and more useful than Bobby Jackson, but MIN doesn't have as much use for his production in a rebuild. Hilton Armstrong might be a nice fit next to Al, but they'd be interested in Julian Wright of course or a pick.

its a good trade, ive never seen jaric play, but basically from what hornets fans have been told, we are looking for a play making point guard, and a slashing 2/3, does he fit either role?

Nope. He can make the smart passes, but he's too big to create his own shot off the dribble. He has good enough handles to get to the rim in the open court, but he's not a slasher. A couple other NO posters inquired about him because he compliments Paul or Pargo, who do those things already. He still averages about 10 PPG, but he's most definitely pass-first, so his value is in making other players better. He provides defense, size, a little rebounding, steals, and assists, and has an adequate, but not special, three-point shot. His negative is the length of his contract .. two years longer than Bobby Jackson, but he's superior in every way than him.

If you'd prefer to insert Telfair for Gomes or Craig Smith, or even Gerald Green for your slashing 2-3, I'm sure MIN wouldn't mind that.

Damn Shrink I want Hilton Armstrong on our team but Cookie and Gomes?? I guess the 1st makes up for it as it isnt likely the Hornets fall off hard (thanks Miami) but still when Green leaves (not a matter of if) and if Telfair leaves that means we traded KG for Al+ two 1st round picks. I dunno if im cool with this deal.

I hear what you're saying, and I'd like to keep at least one -- probably both -- but you've got to give to get. My thinking is that the Hornets have some great talent on their team that's responsible for their great record, but that horrible bench is the only thing holding them back. Armstrong (and a future pick) may be good, but they don't help right now. These guys are also young enough that they can keep them if they like them. MIN defers its production until later. I can certainly see MIN fans saying "no" - it might require Julian Wright replacing someone in the deal, and that might mean a "no" from the Hornets.

Incidently, trading Doleac shouldn't hurt. Yeah he's a center, and yeah he's an expiring, but the deal works just fine financially without him in it. This just means that NO pays his salary this year, and we have a little more playing time to see what Armstrong can do.

I think the Minny trade is good, but I think Minny can keep Gomes and Hornets will still do the trade

Hornets don't really need Gomes anyway if they get Smith as backup PF and already have Julian Wright at SF.

Doleac was just a joke, i care less if we move him. But I would like to keep Gomes or Smith if we could. I see your point, someone leaves this trade just a tiny bit unsettled (Us if we lose both Gomes/Smith, NO if they lose Wright)

Plus the Hornet give up Hilton who is locked in for a few more years at a cheap rate for the pleasure of paying Smith and Gomes next season (if they keep them and you would have to assume they would)

While talent wise this helps the Hornets. Financially this might break them next season

Thanks for commenting. I think those are legitimate and constructive concerns.

My brain kind of melds talent and contract into one value, but if I was to split it up, I'd say that Jaric's is twice as valuable as Bobby Jackson to the Hornets, but his contract is twice as long. So part of the financial burden is covered by the wolves absorbing $12 mil of Bobby Jackson. Some teams don't want deals that run until 2011 because they want a stab at free agency, but your key players are locked into that date (Peja, West, Chandler, Mo Pete, (Wright and Armstrong) and of course Chris Paul.

I'm guessing here, but I don't think either Ryan Gomes or Craig Smith are going to be too expensive to re-sign, particularly to a promising young team that showed some interest in them. Doleac, of course, is an expiring.

I suppose a part of the finances will come down to how much importance the Hornets put on doing well this season (i.e., +20 PPG in talent), and whether these guys are the right ones to help.

I thnik you make legitimate points, and it could be enough to kill a deal for NO. Of course, 4ho5ive did the same, which might kill it in the MIN front office as well. I really appreciate the comments.
