Wacky Clips - Bulls

Clippers send:

Brand
Maggette
Livingston

Bulls send:

Gordon
Nocioni
Wallace

Why for Clips: First things first, they stand to lose all three players to free agency this offseason. Livingston is expiring and Brand and Maggette both have player options which they are not expected to exercise. Without this trade, the Clippers risk going into the draft with only 6 players under contract. Add in that Brand and Livingston will still be out for months if not the whole year. This trade brings back 3 players that will make the team a lot better right now and next year. Wallace will be much more effective next to a post pressence like Kaman. It takes the bright spotlight off his weeknesses. Gordon can replace Maggette's scoring. Noc is an upgrade at the 3.

PG - Cassell Knight
SG - Gordon Mobley Ross
SF - Nocioni Thornton
PF - Wallace Thomas Powell
C - Kaman Davis Williams

Why for Bulls: The Bulls would love to be able to go add all three of these players in free agency, but they don't expect to be under the cap after Deng's extension. That all changes with essentially trading for their Bird rights. Maggette is just what the Bulls need at the two. Brand and Livingston are both expected to play by the end of the season for a short tryout before they hit free agency. Livingston would add needed size and Brand is exactly what the post game is missing. If they work out, now the Bulls can resign them. If they don't, then the Bulls are suddenly way under the cap.

If recoveries stay on schedule, by the end of the season:

Hinrich Duhon
Maggette Livingston
Deng Thabo
Smith Thomas
Brand Noah Gray

Bold? Yes. Stupid? You decide.

The Clips could just let Brand and Maggette walk, get HUGE capspace, and make offers on a guy like Gordon (or whomever) without having to swallow Wallace's mega-contract to do it. No benefit to them here.

Oy Clips would never do this. Why would they want to take on the huge contract of Wallace's?

I know the Clips haven't made the best moves over the year, but they are virtually, (injury-free), trading their three of their four best players for a huge contract, Gordon, and Nocioni, which doesn't make any logical sense for them.

I was gonna make a joke about how the Bulls should also go get Chandler back from the Hornets and Curry back from the Knicks, but id figure its more trouble than its worth. Clips dont touch this.

The bulls definitely say yes, I think that would set us up for a championship run but the clippers aren't getting enough

It's bloody epic for the Bulls, if LA was even going to be convinced to pick up the phone you'd have to throw in quite a bit more.

They're swallowing an absurdly bad deal there heading into what would obviously be a rebuild. Doesn't work.
