WHY? CHICAGO?
Chicago goes for youth and frees up time for there young guys to play by getting rid of there veteran bigs and adding expirings and picks. Mehmet Okur gives them a scoring big man on a lower salary then Wallace's contract. Ronnie Brewer gives them a tall SG that they have needed for a while now. They also get an additional 1st rounder in a pretty deep draft...Hoping for an OJ Mayo and Bill Walker draft in 2008

WHY? UTAH?
Utah goes into a WIN NOW MODE. Utah needs a defensive big to pair with Boozer and who better then big Ben Wallace. They also dont have much depth in the frontcourt so they also pick up Joe Smith who has been great for the bulls this year. Daquean Cook and Thabo Sefolosha also give them 2 young SG to pair up with Williams. One of them is a great shooter one ofthemis a great defender hopefully one of them can really put it together. They also add a 1st rounder for the future to round out the trade. They lose a Miles and Collins but end up picking him back up after hes released.

WHY? MIAMI?
Miami goes into a WIN NOW MODE as well. Miami is missing that 3 point shot that Posey and Kapono had so they add Nocioni who can stroke the 3 pointer. His toughness and tenacity may be the perfect jumpstart to an aging team. With Shaq getting up there in age Miami cant afford to wait they need to add players for a run in the playoffs.

I don't see win now mode happening for the Heat this season. I'd pass. I think we need to hang onto Cook, deal our expirings for younger guys and/or picks, and get some youth in here...

You're not going to get young guys and/or picks with expirings unless you take a long-term/bad contract back in the process.

There's actually quite a few better than Big Ben Wallace, and many who are cheaper. I don't see us making a trade for him, and certainly nothing of this scope. Way, way overcomplicated just to get a defensive C.

This deal KILLS the Jazz cause up to know, teams have to decide whether or not their C should guard Boozer or Okur because either one is good enough down low to score, but adding Wallace means instant double team in the post on Boozer.
Miami adding Andres Nocioni does not take this team to great heights.
Chicago gives up a lot for really Okur.

this trade in no way improves the Jazz at all, and actually makes them worse

a 1st, Brewer, Okur, CJ Miles can get the Jazz much better than this

Agreed that its a pretty complex trade. But can you really argue with the results of the trade? Where are all these better bigs? Ill agree there are probably cheaper bigs... But i think adding Joe Smith is a very solid addition for Utah and they also pick up 2 young guards. [/quote]

Noc's deal runs too long for my tastes, even though it's declining.

We currently have THREE young guards (Brewer, Miles, Almond). That's not a big incentive. I'm fine with Smith if we get him cheap. Not interested in trading Miles or picks for this kind of deal, and not really interested in Wallace's contract either.

hmmm i was under the impression that Utah didnt pick up Miles option so i thought he was probably gone after this season anyways...i might be mistaken... Which would leave u with 2. And then after dealing Brewer it would leave u with 1. Therefore getting 2 young SGs would then be important. That is what i based the importance of obtaining 2 young SGs.

With the arguement of who to double team Boozer or Okur...there strength is also their weakness. Sure they can both score but both cant play D. And that is what you guys need some defense. The loss of scoring caused by losing Okur is somewhat regained with Joe Smith. He can make up for the scoring and Wallace improves the Defense big time. Maybe things dont show up stat wise but he does a lot of little things that really help the team.

I think this trade makes the jazz significantly WORSE. Big Ben is done. By the way, you can't trade guys, have them get cut, and then resign them. Its the Gary Payton rule and they enacted it a few years ago after Boston did it.

The jazz take a big dump on this deal. Horrible just horrible.
