CHI outgoing: JamesOn Curry, Kirk Hinrich, Viktor Khryapa, and Ben Wallace
CHI incoming: Drew Gooden, Larry Hughes, Damon Jones, Damon Stoudamire, and CLE's 2009 1st round pick (lotto protected)
Why do the Bulls do this deal?
The team they have right now isn't working out, so they shuffle things up by doing this deal. Firstly, they dump Wallace, who hasn't fit in at all, and get Gooden in return, who gives them some much-needed post scoring. By getting Hughes, they can move Gordon to his natural position, PG. Gordon-Hughes would be like Arenas-Hughes lite. They also get a future 1st as sweetner.
PG: Gordon/Duhon/Stoudamire
SG: Hughes/Sefolosha/Jones
SF: Deng/Nocioni/Griffin
PF: Gooden/Thomas/Nichols
C: Noah/Smith/Gray
CLE outgoing: Drew Gooden, Larry Hughes, Damon Jones, Donyell Marshall, Ira Newble, Cedric Simmons, Eric Snow, and 2009 1st round pick (lotto protected)
CLE incoming: Brian Cardinal, JamesOn Curry, Kirk Hinrich, Mike Miller, Stromile Swift, and Ben Wallace
Why do the Cavs do this deal?
The team they have right now clearly isn't good enough to get back to the finals. So, they address their 3 major needs by doing this deal. Firstly, they get the PG they have been lacking ever since Lebron became a Cav. They also get a 3-point shooter in Miller to help space the floor. Lastly, they get a post defender in Big Ben. Hughes hasn't fit in at all with the Cavs' style of play, so his loss doesn't hurt.
PG: Hinrich/Gibson/Curry
SG: Miller/Brown/Brown
SF: James/Pavlovic
PF: Wallace/Swift/Cardinal
C: Ilgauskas/Varejao/Jones
MEM outgoing: Brian Cardinal, Mike Miller, Damon Stoudamire, and Stromile Swift
MEM incoming: Viktor Khryapa, Donyell Marshall, Ira Newble, Cedric Simmons, and Eric Snow
Why do the Grizz do this deal?
With the season pretty much lost, the Grizz can afford to trade some of their talent in exhange for cap relief. In this trade, the Grizz dump Cardinal and Miller's long contracts, and get back no contracts running past 2009. As sweetner, they get a young post player in Simmons.
PG: Conley/Lowry/Snow
SG: Navarro/Jacobsen/Jones
SF: Gay/Khryapa/Newble
PF: Gasol/Warrick/Marshall
C: Milicic/Simmons/Brown

this is usually the case when a fan of a certain team proposes a trade involving their own team, so we should cut him some slackcoldfish wrote:Cavs get much, much better. Too good for the assets they are giving up.
anyway, I doubt MEM will do this, Eric Snow's deal is still good after this year as well as Marshall's.. IIRC

The Bulls would love to move Ben Wallace.
They would not like to do so at the cost of Kirk Hinrich, who could only have less trade value at the moment if he was found lying on top of the hooker he just murdered due to hallucinations from snorting some of the 25 pounds of cocaine on his person, and also get back an equally bad contract for an equally useless player and simultaneously reload their frontcourt with more mediocre players for a desperate interim coach to play ahead of their young big men while leaving their backcourt pathetically thin and weak.

It is kinda embarrassing when LJ makes a trade involving the Cavs. But then who'da thought that Boston could have gotten Garnett and Jesus for what they gave up.

I'd do that also, but I'm not sure if the Bulls would.zong wrote:what if Gordon goes to the Cavs instead of Hinrich, and adds a filler or 2nd rounder, MEM needs a 1st rounder from the Cavs for this trade
The rumor is Hinrich + Wallace for Gooden + Hughes, so is adding Stoudamire, Jones, and a 1st for Khryapa and Curry that bad?
Outlaw - I hope you would do this trade.

That's actually interesting. I don't know if we would give up Boobie, though.zong wrote:Gibson, Hughes, filler goes to the Bulls, and Wallace, Gordon, Duhon to the Cavs
The filler would have to be Snow, to make it work.
Gordon/Duhon/Jones
Pavlovic/Brown/Brown
James/Newble/Marshall
Gooden/Wallace/Simmons
Ilgauskas/Varejao/Jones
Not bad.
