Gasol to Bulls, Nocioni to Griz, Noah to NY

The works on ESPN Trade Machine and basically revolves around:
Pau Gasol, Randolph Morris, Mardy Collins, Wilson Chandler and Andre Brown go to Chicago
Nocioni, Curry, Malik Rose(1 year to go) and Fred Jones(expiring) to Memphis
Joe Smith(1 year to go), Damon Stoudamire(1 year to go), Brian Cardinal(2 years to go), Adrian Griffin(1 year to go), Chris Duhon(expiring) and Joakim Noah to NY
Lineups would be
Chicago:
Wallace - Gray - Morris
Gasol - Tyrus -
Deng - Khryapa - Chandler
Gordon - Thabo - Nichols
Hinrich - Collins - Curry
Memphis:
Curry - Stro
Darko - Hakim - Malik
Gay - Nocioni - Jacobsen
Miller - Navarro - Jones
Conley - Lowry
NY:
Smith - Noah - James
Zach - Lee - Cardinal
Balkman - Q - Jeffries
Crawford - Marbury - Griffin
Duhon - Nate - Stoudamire
Reasons:
Chicago gets Gasol without giving up Hinrich, Gordon, Deng or Tyrus. The biggest piece they give up is Noc, but with Deng logging most minutes at SF, Gasol solidifying his place in the PF position and Tyrus spending time at both positions there would less of a need for Noc. Noah and Duhon are replaced by Morris, Collins, Chandler and Brown. All of whom have small and affordable contracts but can contribute given a chance. Collins' ability to handle the rock as a big PG could make him intriguing to fit next to smaller scoring guards like Hinrich and Gordon.
Memphis gets 2 players they have expressed interest in the past. Pairing Curry next to a active defensive minded big like Darko could work to his advantage as it did for him playing next to Tyson Chanlder in Chicago before. A fresh start in a less media demanding market such as Memphis might do him better. Nocioni would be able to step into various lineups for the Grizzlies providing his versatility through the 2-3-4 positions. Financially, they get rid of the idle contracts of Cardinal(2 years) and Stoudamire(1 year) in exchange for Malik Rose(1 year) and Fred Jones(Expiring).
New York basically swaps Eddy Curry with Joakim Noah who I believe has been aching to play for his hometown Knicks. This sorta corrects the deal Zeke pulled off where in the pick that we sent to Chicago became Noah. We also receive a much needed pass first PG in Duhon. Stoudamire and Cardinal have longer contracts than Malik Rose and Fred Jones but are both shorter than Eddy Curry's. They also get Joe Smith who still has some decent burn left in his tank.
Knicks could also follow this trade up with a 3 for 1 salary dump of Zach Randolph to NJ for Malik Allen, Jason Collins and Jamal Magloire.

This is extremely similar to a deal proposed here recently, which was well received.
As a Bulls fan, I would rather try to dump Wallace on NY. Him and Zach would be a marriage made in heaven. One guy doesn't pass and the other is a guy you never want to pass it to.

Oh I wasn't aware. Would u happen to know the link/title/author of the thread so I can give it due credit.
Wallace + Zach would be intriguing but i dont know how the numbers would match up and you'd still get Gasol. Maybe Curry + Joe Smith + incentive to Memphis, Wallace to NY, Gasol + Q/Malik Rose/Jerome James/Jarred Jeffries to Chicago?

I believe it was titled "Have I solved Gasol to Chicago?"
Like I said, its not identical to your trade. It had Wallace going out for Chicago I believe. Ostensibly, its just a good match up of teams with complementary needs and assets.
In reality, I somehow doubt that NY and Chicago will trade again any time soon.

True, hopefully when Zeke gets the boot we can work something out. By the way, I'm curious, how much do you guys value Noah? I'd really like a guy like him on the Knicks.

He hasn't played much, so there is some variation in opinion. I believe he leads all rookies in PER and has been effective in his time on the court, so I really like him.

When have the Grizz expressed interest in Curry? I know that the Grizz expressed interest in Noc as a free agent - but that interest was limited to acquiring Noc for a reasonable price to put next to Gasol, and that interest dissolved when Noc resigned with the Bulls.
As far as the trade itself - not even discussing the values of the talent exchanged - I just don't see it working: because if Pau is having trouble in an uptempo system, then how is Curry going to work out in that same system?

I remember they expressed interest in acquiring Eddy Curry before he was signed and traded to the Knicks.
Curry and Nocioni give you two players who can play in different tempos. When you go uptempo then you can play Conley - Miller - Gay - Nocioni - Stro/Warrick. If you go halfcourt then u play Conley - Miller - Gay/Nocioni - Curry - Darko.
Gives you a variety of options.

I am not all that high on Noah at all. I think the Bulls wasted their #9 pick on him. If the Knicks had kept that pick there were a bunch of other players I would have wanted them to select instead of Noah.
As for the deal itself, it looks like this when all the other teams are cut out:
Knicks trade:
Randolph Morris
Mardy Collins
Wilson Chandler
Eddy Curry
Malik Rose
Fred Jones
Knicks receive:
Joe Smith
Damon Stoudamire
Brian Cardinal
Adrian Griffin
Chris Duhon
Joakim Noah
I really do not see the point of making this deal. Its terrible. Eddy Curry and all of our young players outside of Balkman, Robinson and Lee and the best thing we get back is Noah? And we have to take on Cardinal? So the Knicks don't really even save any money until the 2009/2010 season. This is absolutely terrible.

Morris, Chandler and Mardy aren't getting any burn for the Knicks this season anyway. Noah addresses the glaring need of shotblocking for the Knicks while also providing a proven and passionate winner(2 time NCAA Champion) and competitor. Plus he loves the Knicks.
Furthermore, financially we give around $63M+ in guaranteed money while taking back only $50M+. Will we have cap space before 2009/10?Remember, we are getting out of Curry's deal by basically exchanging it with Cardinal and Stoudamire whose contracts are both shorter than Curry's. We also basically trade Fred Jones' expiring for Duhon's expiring and Malik(1 yr to go) for Joe Smith(1 yr to go).

Actually come to think of it, Malik Rose can be omitted from this deal by redirecting Joe Smith the Memphis instead. Thus it would be:
Gasol, Chandler, Morris, Collins, Brown to Chicago
Curry, Nocioni, F.Jones, J.Smith to Memphis
Noah, Duhon, Cardinal, Stoudamire, Griffin to NY
if Randolph for Collins, Magloire, Allen happens with NJ. Knicks lineup would be:
Noah - Collins - James
Lee - Jeffries - Malik
Balkman - Q - Cardinal
Crawford - Marbury - Griffin
Duhon - Nate - Stoudamire

If we wanted to go halfcourt, we'd just keep Gasol. No reason to trade a better halfcourt player for a player that fits an uptempo style worse than him.

Curry is trash in Iavaroni's offense, he won't fit in at all. And Memphis just won't accept Nocioni as the main piece in any Gasol deal.
It's a terrible trade for Knicks as well. Dumping Curry is good, but not at the cost of giving up cheap youngsters like Collins and Chandler, both of whom the Knicks like, AND taking on bad contracts.

Noah isn't getting any burn with Chicago either and its his teammates choice.

To trade Curry's deal for Cardinal and Stoudamire is stupid. To trade Curry just to save money is stupid. To trade Curry just to save money sometime in the near future is stupid. Period. Trading Curry for crappy players with shorter deals is not an addition by subtraction its just subtraction.

Truly terrible for Memphis. Gasol should be one of the most sought after players in the game. Nocioni & Curry does not get it done.
