What can I say? I thought its something centered for Mike Pietrus or trades for couple of players which we normally see on trade threads but for tax purposes!!!
All I can say its a fair deal for both sides. No wonder we don't see a lot of comments in this thread because normally people talk on the negative side.

I could see this happening if we are out of it at the trading deadline. Not only does it bring us out of the tax, but it also gives us a tool to get a pretty good free agent in the summer. The #2 pick is cool, but not a must. If we can also find the same kind of deal for Ricky and make it a $15MM exception, we'd be in great shape...

Are the Warriors really willing to pay $9M+ for a backup PG? Without sending any salary back?

As long as its an expiring, sure.

Well, it's really just $4-5M for half the season. As GS appears willing to spend up to but not over the luxury tax this would work as it doesn't add any money for next year.
Given the salary and luxury tax savings for Miami I'd think GS doesn't need to add a pick to the deal.

First of all, it would be only like 3.5 million at the the point of a deadline deal and its an expiring contract, and the other thing is the Warriors don't really have a back up PG that could relieve the minutes of Davis.

I agree. No need for the pick. JWill for TE at the deadline could work. And it may have been discussed all along. Because Riley said at the beginning of the year that we'd find a way to get under the luxury tax.

Deal, but take out the pick.
Miami is already getting cap relief, there is no need for the pick.

No
$9 mill is $9 mill wheter you overpay for a patchwork #3 pg who's been injured a lot lately or your dive into lux tax or overpay your own young guys when extending. The W's are looking to not overspend-to NOT add $9 mill to the payroll...and sure won't toss in a pick too.

I doubt its $9m because the Heat already played 36 games which means a portion of the $9m.
BTW, any PG the Warriors are targeting right now?

Keep hearing reports that they are considering Gary Payton, but I'll believe it when I see it.
