HOU/SAC McGrady/Artest

Post#1 » by GTO » Sun Jan 13, 2008 2:56 am

To HOU: Artest, Kenny Thomas
To SAC: McGrady

What do you think? Will the Maloofs bite on their shot to get a superstar? Adelman probably woudln't mind getting Artest.

Houston says no....

Take this scenario: Artest opts out of his deal, and signs with NY. Houston has then effectively traded TMac for Kenny Thomas......

Same thing I say to every McGrady/Artest trade - do we have any guarantee that Artest sticks around after this season, or do we lose him to New York or any other team that may pony up the dough?

That's important, because the idea of the end result being McGrady for Kenny Thomas doesn't make me very happy.

I thought the deal supposed to be pairing Artest WITH McGrady not shipping him out....

And that would make more sense.

It would make zero sense for rebuilding Sacramento to trade for T-Mac.

If you can get T-Mac for Ron/Kenny, you wouldnt have to rebuild.

T-mac's better than Artest, but not by that much.

Tmac is better than Artest, and its not that close. Tmac plays matador defense at times, but he locks down when he needs to. He's obviously an extremely capable player on both ends of the court, but struggles with motivation for some reason.

Add in the fact that Artest would be nothing but a half season rental, and Kenny Thomas is an albatross, and this deal is, of course, absolutely and indisputably horrible for Houston.

That said, GTO meant it as a joke. He was probably parodying your and/or Smills insane overrated/inflated sense of your own players' worth.

While some Kings fan do over value are players, a lot more people under value are players. Some of the offers we get are down right terrible, but thats why fans aren't GMs. Only the GMs really no how much a player is worth to their teams and its safe to say you and I both don't have a clue along with most other fans

As for the Artest/Tmac, you already no my thoughts on the trade

Eh, not so sure about that one. Tmac/Martin doesn't seem like the most balanced duo in history.

What if it was something like:

Bibby/Artest for TMac/James?

Maybe Sactown tosses in their 1st rounder?

Thats an interesting idea. It would be fair value wise defiantly even with the 1st, but i don't think the Kings would be looking for something like that.

Not a chance on that one. Bibby/Artest would be a pretty sweet return for Tmac if they are looking to compete now. Still really don't know what it does for the Kings.
