Raptors & Mavericks deal

Toronto sends: Juan Dixon and future second round pick.
Dallas sends: Jose Barea and Devean George.
Successful trade scenario as long as George agrees to the deal.
Dallas gets a guy who can give them some offensive punch off the bench, can also knock down down the trey. They also get a future second here.
Toronto gets a third string point in Barea who can fill in a back-up roll to Calderon until Ford gets back. Get a vet in Geroge who might be able to crack the rotation and get some valuable minutes at the 3.

no offense but eww
we like barea and we most certainly don't like dixon, a 2nd certainly won't change our views.
you can have george for dixon tho

Really? Dixon is probably an upgrade over both of those guys and I'm sure he'd look much better playing on a team like the Mavs. He just needs a role and he doesn't have one in Toronto. He plays out of position to fill a need here.

yeah but with barea we leave our options open and can trade one of harris/terry whereas if we trade him we'd need to get some PG back for Harris/Terry.
oh and we're damn stacked at the G positions so Dixon wouldn't have a role here eitehr

Barea is like your Calderdon in the past.
backup PG, who in their mind, if given PT, will bust out.

i wouldn't really say too many of us expect him to bust out [except JES12] but we expect him to turn into a solid backup PG for when Terry becomes useless

Well, duh. That's why Toronto would want him! So he could thrive in our friendly international style city. Just like Calderon.
No, seriously though, Calderon was a big time player in Spain and won a bunch of championships over there, he was highly regarded before he came over to the NBA. And Calderon was putting up ridiculous stats off the bench last season which lead us to believe he'd break out with big minutes. Dude should have been a legitimate 6 man candidate last season.
But, I can understand if Mavs fans see potential in him and would like to keep him around for the future.

What if Toronto replaced Dixon with Joey Graham? Come on, you know the Mavs can use some toughness and grit. Who knows, maybe Avery gets the best out of him and finds a role for him behind Josh.

I don't know, he hasn't fit in Toronto, at all. But he has shown flashes and he's still on his rookie contract. Maybe on a different team, where he can get a chance to play the 4 a little more often and play more to his strengths, he could contribute.

you expect Graham to crack the rotation on a team which has Dirk Nowitzki?

There's really no point in Dallas trading Barea, unless he's part of a much bigger deal. Barea is the perfect change of pace point guard for us and he's on a minimum contract. Dixon is undersized and wouldn't even have a role on the team. We've got plenty of scoring off the bench in Terry and Stackhouse.

hence the expiring deal, in a comparison of minutes, Barea and Dixon plays about the same, although Dixon has a bit more production, Barea is younger and plays a more difficult position
I dont see Toronto getting Barea though, we have Ukic coming in next year, we need a solid vet PG to finish this season backing up Jose, not a tiny prospect

??? Barea and George are both expiring too, so that doesn't exactly help us.
Anyways, George would have to agree to any trade and that's probably not going to happen.

I just dont see why the trade would need to happen. I dont think either team would do the trade in the first place though.

Barea > Dixon
If DAL wanted to clear future capspace, I could see a Dampier+Barea for Nesterovic+Dixon being fair for both. But Avery loves Erick...

Toronto wouldn't do that deal Damps has a ulgy deal that pays him $40+ million over the next 4 years. Sure he's a great rebounder but he's on the decline and looks like he's on the serious decline. If his contract was a year shorter I would be all over this but we wouldn't want to give up serious cap space for Dampier.
What about something like Dixon for Bass and George? It gives Dallas a big time shooter in stretches when the need to rest Jet and he provides some ball handling skills.
I think Toronto would welcome Bass' rebounding and defensive toughness into our fold. He would be a good 4/5 backup when we need a guy for gabrage mins. He could be Humphries clone but taller, George would give us a vetern presence at the 2 and 3 to help Graham and Moon devlop into smarter players.
Not sure if Dallas would do it

Funny....I don't expect him to be anything more than a change of pace PG where as others on the mavs board expect him to be the next Steve Nash just because he has had those comparisions.

Not just Avery, most mav fans. I would not do that deal.

He is not in that fast of a decline and his 4th year is not guaranteed. Our offense runs much more smoothly when he is in the game leading to more wind. Case in point, the Warrior series.

We value Bass more than Barea, so if we would not do Barea for Dixon, we certainly would not do Bass for Dixon.

Bass is getting quality minutes; not trash minutes and taking time from Dirk, Damp and Diop. Don't devalue him like that!

Nope!
