- Ben Wallace
- Andres Nocioni
Knicks trade:
- Stephon Marbury
- Wilson Chandler

The Knicks get Ben Wallace and Andres Nocioni, two pretty good fits on their roster so long as they're willing to take on their contracts (compared to the ones they're giving up).

1. Jones, Robinson, Collins
2. Crawford, Richardson
3. Nocioni, Jeffries, Balkman
4. Randolph, Lee, Rose
5. Wallace, Curry, James, Morris

The Bulls lose out on talent to save some money a year earlier and ease the log jam in the front court considerably. Marbury takes the place of Duhon in the back court next season until he expires and at least adds some more offense.

1. Marbury, Duhon
2. Hinrich, Gordon, Griffin
3. Deng, Sefolosha, Chandler
4. Smith, Thomas, Khryapa
5. Noah, Gray

Cliff-I was JUST going to propose something similar, but mine was straight up Wallace for Stephon. We could throw in Duhon. Who knows, maybe IT would add a pick swap?

No from the Knicks.

We would be taking on a lot of salary and giving you a huge expiring chip the next year as well as a prospect. Wallace further clogs the starting frontcourt picture (DLee should be starting as it is right now). The only Wallace to NY trade that would be considered is for Zach Randolph. Nocioni is good but has taken a step back defensively and shoots every shot he sees. Not good to add to a very offensively oriented group. Plus his contract is large and long.

no more quick fixes! Knicks wanna rebuild. Plus Wallace, Zach+Eddy =less minutes for Lee.

Cliff Levingston agrees with the previous two points, but you must admit, it's the type of deal that Isiah would make.

Zeek would be (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to turn down that offer. Two players that *gasp* actually play defense for 2 bums that don't play, and one of them with a cancerous attitude.

Yep.

Really Isiah should try and buy out Marbury or just banish him to the bench until he expires. Isiah's history shows he isn't that smart.

And they could do worse. Wallace goes only a year longer, and they aren't clearing cap space before that anyways. Money isn't an issue with that team.

Yup, that is a classic Isiah move. Shorter contract plus prospect for the longer contracts of two flawed vets.
It's usually called the win-now approach, but in Isiah's case it should be called the lose-now approach.

Nocioni doesn't exactly play defense well, but he does at least try. Wallace defense is based mostly on his past.

I do kind of agree though. It is at the least better than what they have.

The Knicks don't want to rebuild. You want the Knicks to rebuild. There is a big difference.

As for the deals ramifications, it is clear that after this deal is made Curry or Randolph would soon be dealt afterwards.

let's not forget, marbury is talented and a HUGE upgrade over duhon. He COULD bounce back (big IF, of course)

Which makes it even better for the Bulls. However, even though he could bounce back I think its pretty clear its not going to happen in New York, so NY doesn't really have the upper hand.

Why would NY need to include another pick swap? Marbury is shorter contractually and he's still more productive than wallace. And Duhon is not going to give anyboday a starting caiber PG so he's hardly something to be thrilled about to be offering the Bulls a swap.

b/c marbury is a HUGE embarrassment to NY-Wallace would probably keep quiet. NY fans might like this deal

wallace has not been a problem like Marbury, nothing like that. Just playing medicore.

I don't know I took the pick swap to be a joke. I don't think Isiah is that dumb.

I have to admit, this thread is largely based on the idea that Isiah is incompetent at his job. While we have lots of evidence to say this is true, we probably shouldn't realistically expect trades because of it. But we shouldn't be surprised either.
