Wolves & Nuggets

Post#1 » by KG_And1 » Mon Jan 14, 2008 9:04 pm

Kenyon Martin

FOR

Marko Jaric and Antoine Walker

This opens up playing time for Nene who deserves the spot in Denver. Gives Denver another ball handler because they miss Reggie Evans.

Minnesota does this to cut two bad contracts into one bad one.

In case you do not know Nene is having a personal medical issue that may be very serious, due to that they are not going to dump KMart right now.

I wouldn't do this any more. The deal costs MIN $15 mil, and MIN is just 16 months from Walker's deal expiring. I'd much rather have a useful, healthy Jaric at $6.9 mil than KMart at $15 mil. The Jaric and Walker deals aren't so phenomenally over-priced that they can't be moved. They also give up 8.2 PPG, 0.4 RPG, 4.3 APG.

If MIN is going to add $15 mil in salary, they'd definitely need incentive.

Huh?

Anyway Denver says no. Toine is trash, and Kmart is actually doing pretty well this season.

I am guessing he is talking about when Evans handled Kaman's balls.

How myopic

If K-Mart is "doing pretty well" so are Walker and Jaric, who are putting up comparable numbers.

Martin: 9.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.0 apg in 25.8 minutes
Jaric: 8.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.3 apg in 27.3 minutes
Walker: 8.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.0 apg in 19.7 minutes

Oh, for half the price.

Oh, and Walker is a $9 mil expiring next season.

Oh, and without the injury risk.

Too bad those stats only show the offensive contributions, where Walker especially excels; of course defense is a whole different story, as neither of them can hold Kmarts jock on that end.

If Nene was back, Denver would do this. But he isnt.

^Jaric is a good defender. You are right that Walker is not a good defender but his contract ends next year. Martin is good when he plays, but will get hurt again (you know he will) and will once again have the worst contract in the league.

You think Martin is better defensively than Jaric?

Or healthier?

Or cheaper?

Here's a hint .. if a guy's offensive production is similar to Marko Jaric, then people shouldn't be touting it as "doing pretty well."

Whatever man. Its good to dream.

Look at the field goal percentages this season.

Kenyon: 49%
Walker: 36%

Kmart knows his role on this team, he's not gonna jack up contested threes and take away shots from Melo and AI. And as mentioned before, hes a hell of a better defender.

If Antoine Walker sat on the bench and ate cheeseburgers every game, he'd still have more trade value than K-Mart as a $9 mil expiring next season.

Thats nice. But you're crazy if you think we're going to trade Kmart just to dump his salary when it makes our team significantly worse.
