Chicago/Seattle Simple Swap...

Post#1 » by pja123 » Mon Jan 14, 2008 11:26 pm

Bulls get:
Chris Wilcox
Luke Ridnour

Sonics get:
Joe Smith
Chris Duhon
Viktor Kryhapa
future 1st round pick

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE BULLS:
They improve their scoring in the frontcourt with Wilcox. He has the ability to score 18-20ppg and could probably do so in the Bulls system. He possesses great athleticism and is a productive rebounder. Luke Ridnour would be a fine replacement for Duhon as the backup PG.
BULLS LINE-UP:
PG-Hinrich/Ridnour
SG-Gordon/Sefolosha
SF-Deng/Nocioni
PF-Wilcox/Thomas
C-Wallace/Noah/Gray

WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE SONICS:
They remove Ridnour's contract while acquiring two expiring deals and the cap friendly contract of Joe Smith (who would be a servicable replacement for Wilcox at the 4 spot). They also get another 1st round pick to add to the war chest.
SONICS LINE-UP:
PG-Watson/Duhon
SG-Wilkens/West/Gelabale
SF-Durant/Wally/Green
PF-Smith/Thomas/Kryhapa
C-Collison/Sene/Petro/Swift

Just from this I can tell you have watched Zero Sonics games this season.

Durant is currently the Sonics SG. Thomas plays Center not PF.

As far as the trade goes.

I'd do Duhon for Watson(not Ridnour) doubt da Bulls would.

And basically the rest of the trade, Wilcox for a future first and some scraps doesn't make me go wow.

Wilcox and Ridnour should be able to fetch a better package than this.

Also like most teams the Sonics are looking for quality not quantity coming back, as in this trade.

Wilcox can put up 18-20, but the best he has ever done is 14 ppg?

As a starter, Joe Smith is averaging 13/6 compared to Wilcox's 13/7.4 on the year. Both are at a similar price for the next season and a half. Yea Wilcox is younger, but since we would have to pay a bunch to keep him after next season, he is no more useful than Smith.

And while Duhon is certainly tradeable and probably wont be back next year he has decent value. Ridnour is far from exciting at 6.5m the next couple years.

Basically this is not good for Chicago in any way. At all.

Joe Smith = Chris Wilcox, except he's older. So why would the Bulls take on Ridnour for all that extra money?

The Bulls pass, easily. If you want Ben Wallace, that'd be another story.
