Buck-Kings

Kings deal:
John Salmons
Kenny Thomas

Bucks deal:
Charlie Villanueva
Bobby Simmons

Bucks get their SF in Salmons that they've been searching for. Kings take a chance on Charlie V to fill the PF position.

Thomas/Simmons are equally as bad of contracts that facilitate the salary difference between Salmons/V to make this deal happen.

No way I would do that. Charlie V will be a nice player but not a franchise PF, and certainly not an ideal fit next to Spencer. I would much rather hold on to Salmons.

What does this accomplish for the Kings except the downgrade from Salmons to Villanueva?

So, why we all sudden to drop Salmons like that? Even with the K9 package he still garnish more value than this IMO.... Besides Charlie V just doesnt fit in our defensive PF/C scheme....

I'm just getting a feel for 'value'. This is one of my 'probing' threads.

Do you see something in Villanueva that the rest of us dont?

God, I would love to see the Kings with a CV/Hawes frontcourt....can you say lay-up line?

Most reports say that the Kings will trade Artest or Bibby before the season is over, and if that happens, will build around Martin, Salmons, Garcia and Hawes.

And personally.

Salmons >>> Garcia.

I have to be honest, out of the Martin/Salmons/Garcia/Artest log Jam, I really, really hope that Artest is the one to go. I am a huge Kings fan, have been my whole life, and as good of a player as Artest is, I like the Kings better with the other three. He is a great player, but I think both he and the Kings would be best served if he were traded before the deadline (for the right package).

Also, I really don't have much interest in Charlie either. I had really high hopes for him, but he is just not producing. But the idea to swap one of our SF's for a PF is right, I just think Artest should be the one to go.

Your exactly right, it makes the most sense for the Kings to move Artest out of the collection of players you outlined, additionally other than Kevin Martin (who shouldn't be moved by Petrie for almost anyone) Artest should command the biggest package of the group

I differ of opinion. I think artest is a postive DIFFERENCE maker in the league. You lose him and you lose the ability to win close games regularly IMO.

I don't really see a huge logjam between Martin/Salmons/Garcia/Artest..it's Jones and Douby who's gonna get squeezed, unless we deal Bibby away for garbage and pickS.

I'll take it. Though the bucks give up more potential, we're bringing capable role players and consistancy. We also don't need to worry about their injuries.
