MEM reduces its payroll and swaps Warrick out for Villanueva, a skilled forward who better suits Iavaroni's viison of bigmen with range. THis deal also paves the way for a Gasol, Swift and/or Miller trade later (if necessary), as the trading partner would not have to accept Cardinal.

All they have to do to get this collection of scrubs is blow up their frontcourt, bench, and get pennies on the dollar for JR.

So, easy no from Denver. Nene could be back in a matter of weeks given the fact that the tumor was caught at an unusually early stage. Even if it takes longer than that, this is still an awful trade.

I wouldn't blow it off that quickly for the Bucks, but some of the other deals brought up are better if we trade Redd (especially the TMac rumor from a Milwaukee insider that is being discussed - which I highly doubt if it actually true).

Just for you,

Hughes' salary is as bad as KMart but his overall contribution is worse on both ends, besides that he cannot hit the threes which is the Nuggets biggest need.

Snow should have retired last year, he is worthlesss now, but gets paid $14 million over this year and next.

Simmons is the epitome of a bust, and got dumped by a team that was bringing in d-leaguers to replace him, as they needed big men.

gooden is horrible at defense which is the biggest need the Nuggets have at PF

Stoudamire is way past his prime and going downhill almost as fast as Snow, and he is paid $10,000,000 over the next two years of his contract.

Warrick I would take, but considering that he is losing minutes this year on a team that has a host of average bigmen I would not place his value very high.

AS for the Nuggets players they are sending out.

Kleiza is a solid player on both ends of the court and is considered a good 6th man, although he could start at SF for most teams. Plus he is decent at hitting threes, although with his recent bad streak his numbers have been down this year.

JR Smith has a ton of talent, and can put up great numbers when given the minutes. although I do admit that Karl refuses to play him most of the time, I am willing to bet that he lasts longer then Karl does here.Plus he shoots 39.5% from three which is something the Nuggets need.

Atkins has been a bust this year, but his contract is only partially guaranteed next year, so if he does not work out he can and will be gone soon enough.

Kmart is highly productive on both ends, and nobody could be happier with the way he is playing this year. 10 and 6 while being the best defender on the Nuggets makes him worth more then absolute junk to the Nuggets right now.

Nene may or may not have cancer, but he is still a very good player when he can play. Worst case scenerio is that he can never play again, and then the contract gets paid by insurance and he is off the cap, Even if it takes him a year or two to get back the contract is still covered by insurance while he is gone, so no need to bring a bunch of crap who will not help the Nuggets.

Overall this deal does nothing to help the Nuggets now while hurting their future, and only cuts one year off the Kmart deal, so what is the reason the Nuggets would do this deal?

This deal is awful for Milwaukee. I mean really awful. No way we even ponder it for a second. There needs to be at least a lottery pick for Redd. Clearing cap space means nothing to Milwaukee. Why? Look at our big list of FA's we have signed over the last 20 years. You think that will change no it won't.

I agree with you that our main objective isn't clearing cap space in a Redd trade, but the value the Bucks get isn't bad. Two young starters at the weakest positions on the team, a 1st round pick, and Cap relief to an owner who is trying to sell the team is not a terrible deal when you just look at the value. I think it was a valid attemp on ecuhus' part, but I do not think the Cap relief is as valued as many would think.

Well, this is certainly a hard lesson for me to learn, considering the effort I put into making this scheme work. But I will accept the fact that financial conservatism (even in the midst of a rebuild) is a tertiary concern for the Bucks.

If the Bucks aren't concerned with the warts on their payroll, AND are willing to should another bad incoming contract, I think they can get top shelf incoming talent for Redd. I will try to cook up more Redd deals along the lines of the mutually agreeable Indiana-Milwaukee proposal.

I don't think Villanueva needs to be in that deal.

Redd+Villanueva is what has been bandied around in a couple of TripleDouble's previous threads. I'm not trying to start anything, but I was surprised Indy was willing to part with their Messiah ( ). You have to admit though, it's good value for the Pacers. I'm not so sure it is for Milwaukee, but it helps their balance.
