I can do the deal with Frye or without in the checker..Would that make it enough to get the deal done...

No.
The only reasonable Arenas deal would be Arenas for Roy + LaFrentz.

For a healthy Arenas locked into a decent sized contract? Yes, Roy and LaFrentz would be reasonable deal for him.
For a hurt Arenas that won't play a single game this year and has openly said he'll opt out this summer? Roy and LaFrentz is
nowhere close to his value right now.
I understand Wizard fans wanting to get all they can for him and having no desire to move him (which is why you guys demand full value even with his current situation), but let's be realistic here. He simply doesn't have that kind of value
right now for the Wizards to bring back the likes of Brandon Roy in a trade. No team in their right mind would trade their franchise player for a player who's injured and could leave as a UFA in the summer. It just makes no sense for a team to take that kind of risk.

Let's just not go down this road again. Wiz fans have been pretty clear. Arenas would not come to PDX unless one of the big 3 was involved and PDX won't give up any of its big 3. If you want to see how this thread will turn out enjoy going over the two links below.

I swear I read an article involving Arenas opting out this summer..To ask for Roy for a guy that likely won't resign with Washington this summer is crazy..I can see you want a lot but I put a lot of youth with very cheap contracts to make you forget about the loss of Arenas..We have other assets that you guys may be interested in (Jack, Frye) instead of Rudy and Sergio but out here there is a lot of hype around this Spanish duo that makes this a lot better deal for the Wiz then you might think..
I also was wondering the extent of Arenas injury right now...Whats his status..?

obviously Arenas would re-sign with PDX though. He'll re-sign with Washington too if he stays with them, the only reason to opt-out is to make max money instead of 12 million.

We are being realistic. It would make no sense to trade Arenas unless the Wiz get back a player of Roy's caliber. Arenas is almost certainly coming back in March, and there's no reason to believe he won't return next season.

Spykes is 100% correct. No need for Portland to trade one of their big 3 for Gilbert who can leave and is coming off an injury.
As for the original trade - LMAO.

The Wizards won't trade Gilbert Arenas for that garbage package.

Wizards trade: Gilbert Arenas
Wizards receive: Greg Oden, Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Alridge
Blazers trade: Greg Oden, Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Alridge
Blazers receive: Gilbert Arenas
What? Dont like that? Well thats how I felt about your original deal.

Bad trade for both teams. Portland doesn't need Arenas and Washington needs a star not a bunch of spare change.

Coming back in March?! Last I heard, he was out for the season and would only attempt to come back if the Wizards make the playoffs.
That said, you are being realisitic
expecting that type of return for Arenas right now. As I said in my earlier post, no team is going to risk trading away their star player (be in Roy or any other teams star) for a injured Arenas who'll be a UFA at the end of the season. It's a risk that almost no team would take. A team would have to be 110% positive that Arenas will resign before they even
consider such a deal.
Again, as I stated earlier, I understand why Wizard fans want full price for him right now. They have no desire to want to trade him and they don't feel that he is seriously going to leave. With that type of view, the Wizards can demand whatever they want because they don't care if it gets turned down. I get that. However, it's unrealisitic to expect another team to be willing to give up a player of Roy's caliber for Arenas right now.

I don't disagree with any of this. But at the same time, Washington is currently operating under the assumption that Arenas will be back at 95% this March, and he will be at 100% this summer and signed to long-term contract. They're not trading their 26-year-old superstar for mediocre prospects and late picks.
This discussion is pointless. Indeed, any Arenas trade discussion is pointless.

that is a no-no for washington. even though gil is gonna opt out, washington doesn't trade him away for so little. just beucase he's injured and his value has gone down it doesn't mean his value isn't high.

First off, gil's value doesn't go down because he is guaranteed to be completely health next and if he's completely healthy, he is definitely worth a max contract plain and simple. A healthy Arenas is better than a healthy roy and gil is certainly more valuable than a rashard lewis who is also paid the max.
