Miami needs to trim payroll and add shooters. This does neither. Heat pass.

:eek1:

Miami passes? Are you serious?

Miami trades a mediocre player in Davis plus pure cap filler in Williams and gets an all-star and team leader in Jamison. Miami would jump all over this.

Washington passes without hesitation though. The trade does absolutely nothing for them. You don't sacrifice your 2nd best player (ignoring Arenas), a guy averaging 21 points and 11 boards, to fill a hole at backup PG. The trade is preposterous.

Serious as a heart attack.

''we've got to find a way to get under the tax by Feb. 20. We're going to try to. [Owner] Micky Arison understands what we tried to do, but the mandate has always been this tax.''

"I thought I picked up some shooters, but they were not equivalent to Jason Kapono, James Posey and Eddie Jones. We just don't have enough. I could not get the real premium three-point shooters because we didn't want to pay for it.''

-=Pat Riley=-

The Heat pass. Twan isn't solving our problems. He's a great player, but we cannot afford him, and we don't need midrange shooters. We need sharp shooters from downtown, and we need to trim the payroll. This trade does neither...

Wow, I said none of your trades work for Miami, but this one is an easy yes. Jamison is also an expiring. Wizards pass easily. BBallfreak, did you read that trade correctly. It's an absolute steal. We'd be obligated to do it.

For what purpose? Is he going to vault us into the post season? Does this trade erase the fact that we're 8-29?

Of course it's a steal, talent-wise. It's just not a smart move. We can't afford him and he doesn't fit a need. We need shooters and we need to trim the payroll. Can we please accept our position and react accordingly?

I've always seen Jamison as a fairly good 3 point shooter. Plus, this trade only adds 600k to our salary cap number. I really can't see us passing on this one. Or Washington saying anything other than GTFO.

I know who he is. Believe me, I'm well aware of his game. That doesn't change the fact that our moves need to be to add sharpshooters, and trim the payroll.

Ricky Davis is a better shooter than Jamison, and you see how well that's spacing the floor for us...

Well, we could turn around and trade him for quite a bit more value than this. It wouldn't be difficult. And again, I don't think he's a bad shooter.

Which is the only reason to consider this.

He's not, but neither is Ricky...

True. But our rebounding also sucks. He does that a lot better than Ricky. I see your point, but I really don't think we'd have any option other than doing this.

I disagree entirely. If he were signed longterm to a reasonable deal, I'd be all over this, but he's not. It's a rental! All we're doing is... what? Winning a few more games? I'd rather not. If we're going to be bad, let's suck!

He's supposed to sign longterm in Washington for a reasonable deal. I wonder what he thinks about South Beach :D

Just not even remotely solving the problem.
