Redd/Marion Deal With CHI

Post#1 » by raferfenix » Thu Jan 17, 2008 12:55 pm

Bucks trade: Michael Redd, Charlie Villanueva
Bucks receive: Shawn Marion, Thabo Sefalosha

Suns trade: Shawn Marion
Suns receive: Andres Nocioni, Joakim Noah, Joe Smith, Chris Duhon

Bulls trade: Andres Nocioni, Joakim Noah, Joe Smith, Chris Duhon, Thabo Sefalosha
Bulls receive: Michael Redd, Charlie Villanueva

Here's a SI article citing sources discussing how the chemistry has gotten so bad in Phoenix that Kerr may trade one of Marion or Amare before the deadline: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/erica-jon ... 81824.html

The biggest question is whether Chicago prefers the Redd/CV package to Marion, which I'm far from sure about. I can also see different players being sent out from Chicago, maybe Tyrus Thomas instead of Noah especially.

I like this deal for the Suns. Although the Suns really like Sefalosha. Maybe he could come to the Suns and Barbosa could go to the Bucks.

That would give the Suns: Nocioni, Noah, Sefalosha, Duhon and Joe Smith.

Pretty good trade.

I like it for the Suns.

It's pretty good for Milwaukee too. Marion could play small forward and bring some defense and rebounding to that roster without forcing them to bench either Bogut or Yi.

I'm not quite sold on it for Chicago. The value is there, but what they really need is a low post threat. Those guys don't grow on trees though.

No reason for the Suns to do it during the regular season when they still have a chance, but this may be a trade they entertain in the offseason.

I highly doubt it though...

Chicago says no as currently constructed. Start out by taking out Joe Smith and it gets a little closer.

Is Phoenix ready to give up? That's what it looks like to me is this do this kind of deal. Aren't they still tied for first? I would think that there are better deals out there for them if they're just looking to improve a little bit. With Bynum out for an extended period I expect they will win their division by the time it's all said and done. If they do this, they might as well rebuild. How can a team which is possibly still top 5 want to rebuild? Doesn't make any sense to me. San Antonio has been having problems of their own roght now, you don't see them talking about breaking up their team. What about Utah? They don't even seem to be willing to part with AK unless they get a top notch player in return. What top notch player does Phoenix get in return for Marion? If anything, they should be the one getting Redd here.

I'm a huge suns and marion fan, but I do not see this deal as a sign that they'd be giving up despite the impact he has for them defensively.

The Suns depth has been pathetic, and that is what this deal helps them the most with. Their defense may take a hit, but considering how many athletic versatile defenders they get I'm not sure it'd remotely take them out of contention.

They would need to think that Noah would be a perfect fit at center next to Amare to do this midseason, but I don't think that's so far fetched at all.

It makes no sense to have the bucks in this. With the Bulls giving up front court depth and already with Ben Gordon, Marion would be a much, much, much better fit than Redd.
