Memphis passes, they get only one shorter year for far less talent and that first round pick won't be that great.

Agreed.

Memphis should at least be able to get expirings plus the pick for Mike Miller. The last thing they want is to add Damon Jones while they're already trying to dump Damon Stoudamire.

(I also have a sneaking feeling that this is an attempt to trade Bibby to Cleveland, then dump Cavs undesirables on another team for value ;) )

Right Table, Wrong Chair

This demonstrates that other teams aren't interested in taking on the 3rd rate roster filler (Donyell Marshall, Damon Jones, Eric Show) that Cleveland fans (*cough* LBJ4MVP23 *cough*) continue to offer as the cap bulk of the package for Bibby.

Most teams aren't going to be interested in these players as part of a package for one of their quality players and Sacramento shouldn't be significantly different.

If there is another team that would be willing to take those players as the bulk of a package for one of their quality players, I'd be interested to see it because I don't see it happening.

I had a hunch ;)

You're right, of course...those pieces don't have much value, if any. But keep in mind that in Bibby trade proposals here, the Kings are also either getting Drew Gooden, or cap relief on KT, or both. Neither element is presented in this trade, and they do make a notable value difference.

Some of the trades I've seen add those things and they do make some difference, but others don't even offer that much, and even still some others don't even offer the 1st round pick that I listed.

But the point remains these players aren't the answer as far as coming up with a serious package for a quality player, be it Mike Miller or Mike Bibby or anyone else for that matter.

I'm not saying you want Marshall, Jones, and Snow as players, but as contract filler. Their contracts aren't long at all, and it's not like that's all I'm offering. I'm also offering a 1st round pick, Simmons or Brown, and to take KT. You seem to ignore that.

You may want to reread the post just above yours.

Also, I haven't seen Simmons or Brown so I don't know enough about them to get excited about them, but looking at their numbers, there probably isn't huge reason to get excited about them.

Maybe because Brown isn't playing on a team of vets, and Simmons was hurt and isn't playing on a team of vets either.

And I did read your post... I always offer up the 1st round pick, and always offer to take KT. Those should be the 2 things you should be looking for in a Bibby trade.

Which is why Sacramento fans have said that generally speaking it makes much more sense to pair KT with Artest rather than Bibby because the combined total salary isn't so high that we'd be forced to take so much back of poor (non-expiring) quality like Jones, Snow & Marshall.

at least give them newble and brown (both expirings) instead of DJones.
