Knicks / Nets
My friend who is a Nets fan proposed this trade to me (a Knicks fan):
Nets Trade: Vince Carter
Knicks Trade: Zach Randolph
As a Nets fan, he said he'd make that trade in a second. Thoughts?

According to a Western Conference source claiming knowledge of the talks, though, it was the Knicks who approached the Nets about a month ago, offering Zach Randolph for Carter. The Nets declined. [READ]

that article is fabricated. NJ wouldn't turn down that offer, the only people that think VC is better than that deal are fans.
and you should be ashamed as a Knicks' fan if you would want to do that trade and seem to be buying right into the NY media bull that is trying to label ZBo as a cancer even though all he wants to do is win, and it is Curry that should benoit himself. ZBO plays hard every night and never quits, that is more than can be said for Half-man Half-a-season.
No need to trade the best player on the knicks for someone who sadly is no longer clearly better than Jamal Crawford (who actually plays through injuries and doesn't give away his teams plays to opponents).

According to the same article, Nets offered Carter to the Knick just last week, and Isiah declined it....so thanks for trying.

Goddamn why are people so stupid. The Blazers saved over 30 million dollars in contracts and freed up time for Oden and Aldridge by dealing a guy who was not in their long term plans and got a decent young big man in the process. Please stop being lazy and think for a second instead of repeating the same crap.
Secondly, why does Carter have a lot of value. He's old, he's expensive, he won't be nearly as effective away from Jason Kidd, he can't defend and he plays a position that is relatively easy to fill.

If I recall correctly the Spurs, Pistons and Celtics were also very interested in Randolph. So it wasn't as if no other teams were interested. And we are talking about some of the top teams in the NBA so they apparently were ok enough with Randolph's baggage to at least be in the hunt.

Wow, that's interesting. I can see the Pistons but what exactly could the Spurs and Celtics offer for Randolph if they wanted to trade for him? Any ideas?

The Pistons were said to have offered a package centered around either Nazr Mohammed or Antonio McDyess (I believe it was Mohammed). Not the greatest but neither was what NY ended up giving up.
There were talk in many Celtic boards (even the big celtic-nation boards which you guys can check) that the Celtics were talking with Portland about Randolph at or around the same time they made those huge wholesale changes.
Don't recall what the Spurs were reportedly offering but there were reports out of Portland that San Antonio was among the teams interested. Fluff? Who knows. And obviously it wasn't one of the Spurs big 3 being offered.
