OK, we can try this again.

Miami is trying to lose about $6 million in salary before February 20th. What does this do? Add $9 million!

I'd consider Jerome James, but I don't think I'd take back Jeffries. I also don't see what this does for us, because if we trade Shaq, it's too rebuild, and this is neither, just lok at that PF rotation. And it would hurt our pick. After this trade, the Knicks look a whole lot like the Heat without VC in place of Dwyane Wade. That simply can't be a good idea.

Leave the Nets out of this trade. There is nothing coming our way that would justify Carter leaving.

I'd think the Heat just offer up Jason Williams to the Warriors for their TPE and a 2nd round pick. THat'd make a lot of sense for both teams.

so basically for the Knicks you took most of Miami's roster that has brought them to somehow have less wins than the Knicks, plus trade away their only brightspot for the future?

I also question Nets' fans' opinions of VC. In all honesty that is FAR too much to get for VC, possibly the most overrated player of all time. I mean the only complaint a Net fan can have is that they get back Q who should probably just kill himself old-school Japanese style instead of facing the embarassment of playing basketball.

You guys might all actually want to watch Randolph b4 you rip on him and just believe what people are saying. It isn't that he doesn't want to pass the ball, but that he doesn't think it is the right thing to do FOR THE TEAM. He is perfectly fine to pass it to Crawford, Nate or Curry when they are hot, but he does the Kobe rule when they aren't where it is better for the team if he takes a shot double-teamed then pass it to his **** teammates.

if you start Sean Williams instead of NK, and have Crawford run off-ball screens where a playmaker like Jason Kidd can find him open looks, I see no reason why this Nets roster wouldn't be a top team in the East.

I also love how you trade the whole Knicks roster besides Morris and the player most likely to be traded this season (Jones and his expiring)

every team except the Nets hangs up the phone and laughs.

honestly though, remember that Real GM article about Isiah getting out Isiah'd, well oyu might have been able to do it, because you have actually managed to assemble a Knicks team that is FAR worse than their current team and with just as big of a longterm cap clusterfu*k.

Without a doubt, that would be the far smarter move...

Mia adds Bibby and Artest and Curry (for a lesser degree)...I think it's fair for them

Sac should be in rebuild mode, they get back 3 young studs and a couple of expiring contracts next year

NJ gets multiple pieces to make a run, including the low post one they really need

NY gets a couple of "start names" (shaq and vc) if they are going to be mediocre,, might as well do it with some interest for the fans. they also get back some expirngs and shorter deals

you don't understand Knicks basketball. The fans are idiots, and will go to the games no matter what. And then there are the people like me who are screwed who have season tickets and there is no way i am going to give them up no matter how long of a dry-spell they had, have, and will continue to have. Most of the seats are bought by corporations anyway.

And none of the players you mentioned are stars anymore, except Shaq who is really just troubled because is ex-wife is the biggest piece of trash I have ever heard about. Vince hasn't mattered since he missed that game-winning 3 against Phili in the playoffs. He is as relevant as Marbury.

I've got no real problems from the Kings perspective. If Marbury is going to be a distraction, they can just buy him out. His contract would still come off the books before Thomas, and at the same time as Bibby.

I'm just not sure why the Kings are soo interested in Balkman. I do like his potential a lot, but if there's already a logjam with Salmons, Martin, Garcia, Douby all fighting for minutes at the swing, why add more?

I think the Kings' next move would be to move Miller for expirings, and possibly a pick.

As a general fan of the NBA, I like how this trade mixes things up for all the teams. NY gets the big names, which seems to fit somehow, Miami does a Curry for Shaq deal, which other than the hilarious aspect of baby Shaq for Shaq, also makes them younger. NJ loses one of their top 3, but gets a more balanced and versatile roster, IMO.

But how does getting big names fit NY? Despite playing like absolute crap they still have no problems whatsoever filling seats (at the highest ticket prices in the NBA). I mean we're talking about $10,000 for a single front row seat (yes, for only one single game) and thats if you can find someone willing to give it up.

thanks...good assessment. i agree, this is a below the radar good for everyone trade. there aren't many "sexy" moves, just simple shakeups that make sense

OK, let's try this again, maybe in bigger letters...

WE DON'T WANT TO PAY THE TAX! We need to drop $6 million in salary. You not only do not drop $6 million, you ADD an additional $9 million! After your trade, we're $15 million over the tax!

$15 freaking million!

NO!
