Memphis/Chicago/Toronto

Post#1 » by Bentley1225 » Fri Jan 18, 2008 3:45 pm

Toronto is incorporated into a Gasol deal in order to get a PG in order for Chicago to take on less money in a Gasol deal

To Chicago
-Paul Gasol (3 years left)
-Brian Cardinal (2 years left)
-Juan Dixon (expiring)
-Maceo Baston (1 year left)

To Memphis
-Ben Wallace (2 years left)
-Tyrus Thomas (2 years left)
-Chris Duhon (expiring)
-2008 Chicago 1st round pick (top 10 protected)

To Toronto
-Damon Stoudamire (1 year left)

The Bulls trade for Gasol and flip Stoudamire in order to save some money (about $3 million next season).

Hinrich/Dixon*/
Shefolosha/Gordon/Griffin
Deng/Nocioni/Baston
Smith/Cardinal/Khryapa*
Gasol/Noah/A.Smith

The Grizz trim salary, acquire a decent defensive low post presence, get a PF prospect and get a draft pick. Grizz can draft a SG and C in the draft.

Conley/Lowry/Duhon*
Miller/Navarro*/Jacobsen*
Gay/Warrick
Milcic/T.Thomas/Brown*
Wallace/Swift

The Raptors get a true backup PG to help spot Calederon some rest.

Calederon*/Stoudamire/Martin*/Ford(IR)
Parker/Delfino
Moon/Kapono/Graham
Bosh/Humphries/Garbojosa(IR)
Nesterovic/Bargnani

Where's the pick coming from? As long as Toronto isn't giving it up, then I like it for us. My only hesitation is that if TJ comes back, the Damon is back to being an unhappy 3rd stringer, and one of our team strengths has been a significantly improved locker room environment.

Memphis has no interest in acquiring Wallace.

Well I'm sure Memphis can live with Wallace because a) it gives Mmephis the ability to dump Cardinal in a deal and b) Wallace contract expires when Mike Miller's does, giving the Grizz a moment in 2010 FA period to add a major FA relative to the youth they will have.

Conley, Lowry, Navarro, Gay, Warrick, T. Thomas, Milcic, and 2 potential lottery picks this draft will give them a solid foundation moving forward.

i agree with Maritimer, the raps would only do this if they had another deal set up to get rid of one of their current point guards.

Damon, might not even want to come back to Canada..

Memphis will not be moving Pau for an older player that is on the decline...even if it means dumping Cardinal.

Oh come on now. He's not proposing that they do this trade to get Wallace, he's proposing that they do this deal to get Thomas and a pick. Why would you look at Wallace as the main component of this trade?

Pretty sure Memphis would want a unprotected pick if they are moving Gasol and taking Wallace. Since Wallace kills what they are trying to do. Cardinal vs Wallace is a toss up both are bad contracts but I would rather take Cardinal and what they have now then this.

If they move Pau I am sure they can get better then Tyrus Thomas and a first that protected. The Bulls pick would be a lotto pick and I think Memphis wants a unprotected pick.

Pretty fair from Toronto

Right now, we're not even sure that TJ will be playing this season and with Jose playing 40 minutes a night, the Raptors are putting themselves in danger of having Jose injured leaving them with no point guards on the roster.
For what the Raptors give up, they are getting a terrific deal and an important piece for the rest of this season and the playoffs.

Because I didn't really think someone would expect the Grizz to trade Pau for Thomas and a pick.

Here is my version of the trade:

Chicago sends:
Nocioni
Ben Wallace
Tyrus Thomas
1st round pick

Chicago receives:
Gasol
JCN

Memphis sends:
Pau Gasol
JCN

Memphis receives:
Nocioni
Tyrus
1st round pick
the expiring contract of Idi Amin (released)

Hell sends:
the expiring contract of Idi Amin

Hell receives:
Ben Wallace

I think that's far for everyone involved and it works on the trade checker.
